What makes herbig good? This should be cute as well
How am I even supposed to answer that? He's a solid passrusher who brought in an excellent PRWR - 25% before the Colts game but I'm not sure what it is now.

I literally said he's not a world beater and Guyton would have been better with help. Nice try for a gotcha though.

So he went from good to not a world beater lol. So today we learned your personal definition of excuse and that herbig is a good player. Gotcha. Go bother somebody else now

Everyone knew before the draft he needed time
We knew when we drafted and after we drafted him that he needed time
Let's remember all of that now and give him time to develop and be the player he can. With coaching and game snaps he will improve. Not everyone walks into the NFL ready to play his best football week 1 of season 1.
Our problem is that we're starting a player from week 1 of season 1 who we know needs time to develop. That's not on Guyton. That's on the front office.

Honestly I dont think anyone really expected him to struggle like he has, because Dallas has actually been good with olineman, especially in the first round. Tyler Smith did a pretty good job his first year, and all the other previous 1st round olineman did too
But even with Tyler, he was starting at the position he played in college, not transitioning to the other side. It's tough to switch sides.

Bench Terence Steele. Move Guyton to Right Tackle. Move Tyler Smith to Left Tackle. Plug in either Bass or Hoffman at Left Guard. Problem solved.
Stop saying this. It’s not happening. Steele extension kicks in this season. We’re stuck with him for at least two more season based off the cap hit and dead money. The cowboys aren’t just goin to eat that contract.

The cowboys are just terrible with second contracts.

It was criminal starting him. Gonna kill his self esteem. No need to rush him this insistence on. It playing Tyler at tackle is weird because soon as he went down they threw him out there.
I would say if the kid starts to quit, then maybe. But if keeps giving 100% effort, then let him play. You don't bench a rookie with all-pro potential. If this was a QB, that would be different. But Guyton just needs to play.

Buddy, you asked if he was a world beater and I said "he's a good player but no." I never moved anything.

Just another one of the chuckleheads on this board who can't read. Bummer, you used to be a real human

Guyton needs reps, but I also get the sense he needs another offseason to get stronger. Early in the year he was getting beat bad with simple bullrush moves, and that seems to have evolved into him overcompensating for the power rushers and playing to forward with his upper body leaving him open for the speed moves. If he can get stronger and not have to worry about guys just pushing him back at will I think he will be fine. A lot of his footwork looks good, seems to do a solid job keeping his shoulders square. When he struggles he typically is leaning forward and reaching to get hands on his man. This is a pro bowl caliber player, but I'm not too excited about the 2024 version of him.

Also a lot of people after this weeks game were talking about the gap blocking scheme, and Guyton seems to thrive there. If they do move away from those zone runs Guyton could be one player who benefits quite a bit.

Yeah but poor line play makes it tough to gauge other positions. What if Dowdle is the guy? What if Tyler is our future lt? Draft status shouldn’t determine how much you play. He’s gonna struggle all year and I’m not sure if that’s good either.
its good if hes learning. Its not good if he isnt. No one should be expected to come out of college and be perfect in that or many positions. This is forging by fire. One of the many reasons im ok with it being a down year. Let the guys learn things they typically wouldnt learn until the worst possible moment.

He played agianst a franchise that is a rivalary of ours for a long time. Hes bound to not have good games.

Why would you bench a QB but not a left tackle? I’m the opposite I’d let the QB play. Guytons issues he looks outmatched strength wise. The game looks to fast for him. He’s gonna get Dak killed.

Yeah but everyone said this guy was a project. This was not a move for this year. So if that’s the case why are we playing him? I get if you are last place.

All fair points. I just think Guyton has the potential to be your starting LT for the foreseeable future and it's too soon to start cutting back on valuable experience.

And as much as I don't love it when the higher investment player automatically wins the job, you really have to give your high investment pick more opportunities early on.

If this was December of next season, or year three, I'd be ready to call it. But we've just gotten to week 6.

I think for me my issue is he was sold as a project. I think he’s our LT of the future but I don’t think he is right now. I think getting his strength and conditioning up would benefit him.

But I’ll also say I heard we did some new blocking schemes. That may be the reason for the improvement and not his departure. Just keeping an eye out.

Why do people keep posting "move Tyler to LT"?

I think it is fairly obvious at this point the Cowboys view Tyler as a MUCH better player at guard.

And we saw the grades for Bass at guard after the Steelers game. It would be a huge downgrade at guard.

We knew Guyton was a project when he was drafted. The bonus is we picked up Beebe at the same time by trading down. We just have to hope Guyton learns and develops.
