For being a late first round rookie who didn’t play much in college, he looks about what we’d all expect. The tools to be great are there, however.
I don't see it. He makes way too many fundemtal mistakes. Should not be starting and would not on any other team. Dumb Jerry should have gotten a vet for starting this year.

Steele is at least playing better than last year, he's not all the way back to 2022 level but he's definitely better. They aren't benching him. Guyton just needs more time.
Not from what I have seen. Most of Dak's sacks are happening because of Steele getting burned around the edge. Guyton has been flagged for holding because he's a rookie who has had to face off against the league's best pass rushers to start off this season, but what is Steele's excuse? He's a veteran who has been getting burned around the edge repeatedly.

Um, because Steele was facing Watt? Who is as good as anyone Guyton has faced, including Garrett.

According to PFF he's given up 3 sacks which is tied for 8th at his position. 68 score overall, had a 50.8 last year (blech), and 73.9 in 2022 before the injury. If you watch the all-22 film, he looks better than last year for sure.

Steele has been getting burned around his edge all season long, not only against the Steelers. Let's be real now.
Nobody claims he's Erik Williams, but he's a very good run blocker and good enough to win with. Take out the Watt game with is tough for any RT and he's been fine.

Steele's 3 sacks given up is only 1 sack less than rookie Tyler Guyton. That's because Guyton has had to face every team's best edge rushers to start this season (except for this last game against the Steelers where Guyton gave up no sacks prior to getting injured). Terence Steele is a 5 year veteran compared to Guyton being a rookie, yet Guyton has only given up 1 sacks more than Steele while having to handle amongst the best edge rushers. As a 5 year veteran, Steele should be playing much better than a rookie. He simply is not.

I would say this is encouraging. It’s just taken time from the injury, but hopefully he continues to trend upwards. How about as a run blocker?

Everyone knew before the draft he needed time
We knew when we drafted and after we drafted him that he needed time
Let's remember all of that now and give him time to develop and be the player he can. With coaching and game snaps he will improve. Not everyone walks into the NFL ready to play his best football week 1 of season 1.
Absolutely and thank you!

Problem is, the Dallas Cowboys first round draft pick is always their big acquisition of the off season, so fans expect instant high level play.

I'm not saying Steele is perfect, but why give up on Guyton already? It's going to take time and he has shown good flashes. I don't love the idea of moving a dominant player (Smith) at LG to a position he'll be just OK at (LT). He struggled there too against Pittsburgh when Guyton went out. I personally think it is better to give Guyton some more time. Too soon to give up.

Steele is a really good run blocker on the right side with Zach. That's where most of Rico's runs went.
Absolutely that was the area he always excelled the most in. I was just curious how the rankings look now vs last year and before the injury.

Educate yourself a little.

You need to educate yourself way much better on understanding film. During those run plays, Terence does well whenever he double/combo blocks with Zack Martin on 1 D-lineman. Even rookie Tyler Guyton would be able to dominate if double/combo blocking with Zack Martin. The problem happens when Terence Steele is forced to block 1-on-1 by himself. Ironic how J-Tuck did not show a single 1-on-1 block for Terence Steele. Study other tapes and educate yourself properly next time. Plus, as a 5 year veteran, Steele is still struggling on pass protection. Inexcusable.

I agree with you. My thing is Right Tackle is Guyton's college original playing position. He might likely perform much better playing Right Tackle. I wonder if Steele would perform better at Left Tackle?

Guyton will need this season, easy up folks. Pre season being dumbed down doesnt help and Guyton is up against some good talent.

Im still not a fan of the OL coach but even hes not messing up as much as fans think. Give the player some time. This isnt a play off year anyway, chill and let the draft class grow.

I agree with the take, but not the solution.

Guyton needs reps, and this season probably isn't going anywhere if we're being honest.
Yeah but poor line play makes it tough to gauge other positions. What if Dowdle is the guy? What if Tyler is our future lt? Draft status shouldn’t determine how much you play. He’s gonna struggle all year and I’m not sure if that’s good either.
