Dumb play-calling on our last series cost us the game

They must have data showing trying for the first is always more valuable than forcing the other team to burn the final TO because they always opt for it.

We should have run the ball on 3rd and 10 with less than 2 minutes left.

Instead we attempt a deep throw down the sidelines which was incomplete, saving the Jags final timeout.

They needed that timeout to force overtime.

We deserve to lose with dumb decisions like that.

Choking away a 17-point 2nd half lead is painful.
We needed one first down to close out the game. They should have called plays based on that. They acted like they had it won

Why did they even call a pass? You have to kill their last timeout. I will never fathom the stupidity of that call.
Dak did not have to throw the ball. I'm sure one of the options the coaches told him was to hold it if nothing was open.

I would love to see the analytics on that situation. What was it, 3rd and 10? Common sense though tells me to make them burn that final timeout.

That deep throw was the dumbest thing so far this year. We run it and punt, the Jags are out of TOs starting at their 15/20.

They have tried it twice this year, and it failed both times thus opening a window for both the Giants and the Jags to have a last shot at a FG with a timeout rather than no timeout with even less time on the clock. The poor play call was a double whammy. It saved the Jags a crucial timeout AND it preserved more time on the clock for their last drive.

The defense bailed us out in the Giants game, but not against the Jags.

Had we simply taken a victory formation kneel down rather than the long pass play our winning percentage would have been well over 90. The only hope would be a fluke like a hail mary, or a huge penalty on the defense for the Jags to win. It can happen, but very rarely does.

That call lost us the game more than any other factor.

Nobody is off the hook. If Moore called it then he needs to evaluate his own film and learn or hit the road. McCarthy should have been aware enough to over rule him unless he made the call which is even more inexcusable since he has more experience than Moore by far. And if Dak audibled into that play then he needs to be checked by the coaches for that. Likewise, Dak should have audibled to a run play to prevent an obvious coaching error.

Throwing in that situation isn't terrible. High percentage short pass, okay. Even a dump off to try and get Pollard in space and let him try to break a tackle or two like he's known to do, great.

But such a low percentage pass, down the field, to Noah Brown? It's a bad call by our OC. And a terrible decision by our QB given the situation and who he was throwing to.

Why not a roll out to burn time; get one look at a 1st easy throw to convert and curl into a ball and take sack if not.

Just no situational awareness. None.

One of McCarthy's MOs in Green Bay was peculiar clock management/end of game situations.

We've had examples of this in the past with him in Dallas and today was another.

If you are gonna throw, at least make it a safer, higher success rate kind of pass. A deep ball? LOL.

Give yourself a *chance* at a first down, not a *likelihood* of not getting a first down and not stopping the clock.

Must be something the water in Dallas. I thought we were done with this stuff when The Red Menace left.

Moore is our weakest link.
But Corky could have overruled Junior....and didn't. But what do you expect from a con artist who admits to not even knowing the terminology on the offensive side of the ball. When I heard him admit that, I almost drove off the road.

In that situation.. Dak should have pulled the ball down, seeing that no one was open.. and even ran back across the field.. taken another 5-6 seconds off the clock.. force Jags to burn that last time out.. and then set up for the punt.

There is simply no situation where heaving up a low % long range pass to a covered dude 30 yards upfield is the right call there.. none. Shockingly bad.

And by not burning that last TO.. it gave the Jags SO many options for their own drive.. they knew they could use the middle for a play.. so our defence had to cover the whole field. I can't stress that enough. It also meant that the Jags had lots of options around getting to the FG line. Without a TO.. their play calling is very different.. they are forced to stick to the sidelines.. one sack would have ended the game.. they are worried about getting tangled up on routes.. it changes the whole mindset. Look at the play they ran to pick up the last 17 yards.. YES our defence got burned.. but if they don't have a TO.. then that play doesn't happen.. no way they could have got that chuck and got out of bounds in time.

It was just a stupid call and anyone defending it is just as doopy our our front office and QB. It was a stupid stupid stupid play and it can never be justified.. I don't care about any analytics.. it is a play that requires everything to go right.. and has a huge risk if something goes wrong. Just stupid.

so many bad self inflicted errors this game basically by the whole team,a poor reflection of a coach who is losing his players at a critical juncture.
