I'm sure this has been discussed here before. Does anyone know if it's called a

A)Shovel Pass
B)Shuttle Pass
C)Shuffle Pass

I've heard it called all three but I was discussing it the other night with my brother during the game.

Anyone know the correct term and it's origination?

during the game al michaels made reference to its origin but i didnt remember
what he said so i looked it up. i only found one good reference , the whole
article is here but this should answer your question.

Utah's last outright conference championship was in 1957. Jack Curtice was the coach and Lee Grosscup the quarterback. They drew nationwide acclaim when they introduced the shovel pass to college football.

On Monday night, Drew Pearson said it was definitely a "shovel" pass... At least for coach Landry. ;)

Well...if Tom Landry called it a shovel pass....then that's the end of the discussion

Shovel Pass it is !!!!

Saw an NFL Films thing on this once, and I'm pretty sure a majority of coaches, players, and Paul Tagliabue himself called it a shovel pass.

Someone PLEASE take the 'shovel' and bury Tagliabue.
It is a Shuffle Pass.
Ask Thurman Thomas, he fumbled enough of them, right to James Washington was one of them :laugh2:

it can be all 3, certain coaches have certain names, like the "oklahoma shuffle" the Oklahoma shuffle" and it just depends on the coaches.......as far as i understand
