Takin' a knee was the right call...................

We wouldn't have accepted the penalty in the first place if that was what we were going to do.

Why in the name of all that is holy and good would you send the offense back out on the field after the onside kick fiasco and take a chance at Romo getting hurt (like he almost did) instead of trying the 53 yard field goal?

It's not like Romo was "on" today and that he had all of his weapons. Only bad things can happen when you pull this kind of stuff.

It was a bad call...I was hoping for a long field goal try. But hindsite is 20/20.

The field was soaking wet. Making a 54 yard FG is asking a bit much IMO.

They likely were aftaid of a returner getting a short FG attempt and running it back against the FG unit.

It's happened before, this season... and that was a prime spot for it to happen again.

That would be my guess.

Oh the call itself to take the penalty, yes. I agree but as you said, go for the FG every time in that situation.
Yeah, our kicker needs all the experience he can get.

It clearly was an option but not the only one which makes this thread wrong when it is being claimed to be the dumbest call in history? There are reasons for and against trying to kick the long FG one is not wrong and the other rights just a different view of the situation. Had the kick been blocked especially after the 1st 2 kicks looked bad then Wade would get question on why try the long kick

I was at the game. It was raining hard at that moment. There was NO way Folk was going to make that FG. The Hail Mary call was the right call. It just didn't work.

I agree, a 54-yarder is hard enough on a clear calm day but with the slippery field and wind and rain, the odds against success really increase. I think a Hail Mary pass had about as good a chance as anything else, but there was always the danger they could intercept and run it back.

I'm sorry, the Field Goal gives you the best chance for points there.

The long field goal attempt also give WASHINGTON the best chance for points there as well.

You mean a miss FG and the other teams takes it back for a TD. That never happens, well except for last year and this year.

Biggest exaggeration in Cowboyszone history.

No kidding. And that's saying something.

The kickers test their range before the game, and Wade said there was no way Folk would have made that. The conditions were pretty terrible.

Or, it could be that this is another example of why our coach has never won a playoff game.

This is what I was thinking. However, I don't believe I have ever seen the Skins sit a guy in the endzone, but the Cowboys may not know that. I was at the game and it seemed like a bad call at the time. However, the Skins last play right before was an awful call as well: Five seconds left at the Boys' three, no time outs and we threw a ball to a RB in the flat who if he had caught it would have been tackled inbounds. I was tearing my hair out at that call.

Wow, I can't believe some of the thinking around here. When the other team gives you a free shot from their 36 yd line, you take it. Romo justed turned the wrong way. You could make an argument for trying the FG, but in the rain from that distance taking a shot at the end zone was the right call. Taking a knee would've been the worst call in history.

I would rather have Folk miss the FG and have it run back for a TD than to have Romo sacked and injured like almost happened and lose him for the Playoffs. Especially in a game that meant nothing to us to win. It was a dumb call.

Who cares if he misses the kick? At least we would have taken a shot at it and maybe gotten it. Who knows. But with all that said, we didn't, dang near got Romo killed, and we still went in the locker room the same as we would have except we have one more hit on our QB.

When you are just trying to get out of a game with no injuries because there is a bigger prize down the road, you don't do these kinds of things.

Romo could get sacked and hurt every time he drops back... Should we not call pass plays?

And IMO it would have been far more ridicululous to try a FG the coaches and Folk knew he couldn't make, and have it land at the three yard line.

But this was the only game we gained NOTHING with a win. We risked an injury to arguably our most key player for a hail mary shot in the dark play that with the way things were going we had no shot at making. At least with the FG attempt, maybe we make it, maybe we don't but the worst case scenario is they run it back for a TD. Suppose they picked off Romo on that play and run it back. Would you have been happier with that while at the same time exposing Romo to injury for no gain at all?

It's a stupid scenario we did there and no matter what anyone says, it doesn't change it. You manage the game as it unfolds and you don't do thing to put yourself in a no win situation.

But cajun, if we were that concerned about Romo getting hurt, we shouldn't have played him at all.
