There was one team that kept the Mavs from winning multiple titles and it was San Antonio.

Yeah as really Tim Duncan and David Robinson were classy guys. Both on and off the court. Good luck to Tim in his retirement.

I'm just impressed they went all in by rigging David Robinson's chair on the plane to collapse, and throw him into back spasms, which caused him to miss 18 games. And THEN by breaking his foot six games after he came back, and causing him to miss the entire season in a cast with screws in his feet.

http://www.nytimes.com/1996/12/25/sports/spurs-robinson-breaks-his-foot.html

And then they had the wherewithal to ALSO make sure that Sean Elliott (their other all-star) missed all but 39 games with an injury, and made it believable by only playing him in 36 games the following year.

And then ensuring that with all that CLEARLY intentional tanking, and having still only the third best odds to win the lottery at a 22% chance, they were still able to rig the system and get the 1st overall pick.

Good detective's eye you have there.

And five-time champion POS franchise, you mean.
There's still some salty fans out there....lol

"As it dragged on and I didn't see our name, I stopped eating and drinking," Popovich recalled. "And when I found out we got the No. 1 pick, I dropped my sandwich and beer and said, 'Oh, my God.' And the rest is history."

I am happy and sad. I was downtown at the Alamo for the welcoming. I got to see him play for 19 seasons. We were easily a top 5 team every single season, mostly top 3 tbh. David Robinson is my favorite player ever, but Tim is number 2.

I am happy for all the great years......sad that the ride is over.

Btw, i feel only 3 jerseys belong in the rafters.......44, 50, and now 21.

I want a statue in the front of the arena...with all 3 players, individual, but right next to one another.

Yeah - I feel like the jersey thing is watered down with Bowen, Elliott, Moore and AJ. It pretty much guarantees that Manu, Tony and Kawhi will be in (rightfully so) but sets up role players like Green, etc.

Yep, pure class acts, wish more pro athletes were like them. Real mixed feelings about San Antonio because on one hand they are a big rival to my thunder and I can't stand Ginobli or Parker but always loved Popp, Duncan and Robinson because they were so good and classy.
