Break out the Magic 8 Ball. Read the tea leaves. Pull stuff out of your trash. Throw darts at a dart board. Whatever method you use, predict how you think the 2009 season will unfold.

Here's mine...

AFC East

1. Patriots. Brady is back and they had an awesome off season.
2. Bills. Barely miss the playoffs.
3. Dolphins. They come back to earth with a #1 seed schedule in front of them.
4. Jets. The 2008 decline continues.

AFC North

1. Steelers. Could Ben's legal woes derail? Not enough.
2. Ravens. Flacco will struggle a bit though. Wildcard.
3. Bengals. Marvin's last shot falls short.
4. Browns. Most exciting thing will be a mid season QB trade.

AFC South

1. Titans. They won't miss Haynesworth.
2. Colts. Wildcard. Peyton keeps them afloat.
3. Texans. Could be a sleeper team. Very good DEs.
4. Jaguars. My faith in them pre-2008 is shattered.

AFC West

1. Chargers. Class of the Division.
2. Raiders. Yes, seriously.
3. Chiefs. Just below the Raiders.
4. Broncos. Can't see any reason for them to have hope this year.

NFC East

1. Giants. They return a scary Defense and a steady QB and ground game.
2. Cowboys. Wildcard. Year of redemption in a lot of ways. Could win division.
3. Eagles. Wildcard. Could also win division. That's how tough this division is.
4. Commanders. Defense will be improved but QB is still an albatross.

NFC North

1. Vikings. Sorry Favre haters.
2. Bears. Wildcard contender.
3. Lions. NFC Sleeper.
4. Packers. Just think they are going downhill.

NFC South

1. Saints. It'll be a party in the Big Easy.
2. Falcons. Will be a good team and still miss the playoffs.
3. Panthers. Just don't believe in their QB at all.
4. Buccaneers. Welcome to the NFL Coach Morris.

NFC West

1. Cardinals. That Offense carries them in a weak division.
2. 49ers. Improving but still way short of the mark.
3. Seahawks. Disappointing team of 2009.
4. Rams. Need an almost complete overhaul.

Patriots my pick to win it all.

I agree with your picks for the most part. I will take the Falcons ahead of the Saints in the South and I am not ready to give the Giants the nod over the Cowboys in the East. I am not sold on the Giants receivers. Could be a headache for Eli. I guess you could say that about Dallas aswell :)

agree with the saints. greg Williams will do wonders with that awful defense. They got D.Sharper who is only gonna last a year or 2 more but will give great pointers to Jenkins. Having Rod Coleman and Ellis from USC together will give them a strong pair of DT's anchored by Will Smith and Grant who were both hurt last year. I could see them being pretty tough.

I must say though our predicitons are more interesting than the canned "consensus" picks you find in the yearly annuals which basically consist of picking last year's playoff teams to make it again .

AFC East

1. Dolphins. Young, hungry and built from inside out.
2. Patriots. I expect them to look like the greatest team of all time till the weather turns bad than I think they will stuggle.
3. Jets. new coach, new attitude but new qb that I expect will have troubles.
4. Bills. shopping for a home in Toronto.

AFC North

1. Bengals. I think they finally are begining to understand.
2. Stealers. I don't believe
3. Browns. Will need a little time.
4. Ravens. just don't see it happening.

AFC South

1. Titans. Fischer is an excellent coach.
2. Texans. Getting better.
3. Jaguars. Could be a sleeper team.
4. Colts. not too much to like.

AFC West

1. Raiders. I think their roster is packed full of players, they just need decent QB play.
2. Chargers. They are going down hill fast.
3. Chiefs. Haley will have these boys playing hard.
4. Broncos. What the heck are they doing over in donkey land.

Titans AFC Champions

NFC East

1. Cowboys. No comment needed.
2. Commanders. Yup that is right.
3. Eagles. Andy Reid may never get it, When you play atleast half of your games in the NE outside a dome you need to be able to run the ball.
4. Giants. Just don't see it.

NFC North

1. Vikings. The only thing they have needed is a qb.
2. Bears. They got their growl again.
3. Packers. Way too much of a yo-yo team for my taste.
4. Lions. Will be better than last year :).

NFC South

1. Saints. Brees still throws too many ints for me to take the saints serious.
2. Falcons. a good team.
3. Panthers. Can see them winning this division or finishing 3rd.
4. Buccaneers. need some time.

NFC West

1. Seahawks. Mora breathes a bit of fire in them.
2. 49ers. Singeltary is the reason.
3. Cardinals. Never saw it last year and still don't understand it.
4. Rams. Need a direction.

Cowboys NFC Champions

Cowboys over Titans.:)

AFC East

1.Dolphins. Tough schedule, but a tough, young team. Last year was no fluke.
2. Bills. Barely miss the playoffs, TO is the 2nd best WR on the team.
3. Patriots. Brady does not return to "elite" form.
4. Jets. Young QB, don't see them beating out the Pats though.

AFC North

1. Bengals. Shock the North with a very solid year. Win 4 of 6 division games.
2. Steelers. Struggle through the season, key defensive players injured.
3. Ravens. Flacco struggles, Ed and Ray's dominance is not so dominant.
4. Browns. I wish they'd do better. They just don't have the oomph.

AFC South

1. Texans. Prove they are a true force to be reckoned with, win 11 games.
2. Colts. Peyton plays great (as usual), leads his team to Wildcard.
3. Titans. QB problems cause offense to fall flat on it's face.
4. Jaguars. This team has so many glaring problems.

AFC West

1. Raiders. Upset the West with great QB play. win 5 of 6 division games.
2. Chiefs. Huge turnaround from last year. This years "Dolphin turnaround."
3. Chargers. Team knows Norv is gone. Players stop buying in and Rivers has a terrible year.
4. Broncos. This team is headed in the wrong direction.

NFC East

1. Cowboys. Not just a homer pick. Cowboys invent a new offense where WRs are utterly useless when you are stacked with RBs and TEs.
2. Giants. Average QB play and a legit defensive front land them past the Commanders.
3. Commanders. Upset the Eagles, barely beating them in division. Bad QB play sends front office wanting Tim Tebow.
4. Eagles. The preseason hype and defensive losses leave this team at 500.

NFC North

1. Bears. This team is starting to pull it together.
2. Vikings. Favre leads Vikings to a solid Wildcard spot.
3. Lions. Sleeper team. This is going to be a tough division.
4. Packers. Upset by Lions in division. Front office drama and angry fans send the Nov/Dec into a tailspin.

NFC South

1. Falcons. Matt Ryan proves himself as a Top-10 QB.
2. Panthers. A solid offense and stout defense nearly wins the division.
3. Saints. Will be a glass cannon. They'll score every possesion, but so will their opponents.
4. Buccaneers. Somehow don't end up 5th in their division.

NFC West

1. Seahawks. Return to the top of their game in 2009. Watch out.
2. 49ers. Singletary is really turning this team back around.
3. Cardinals. Offense can't keep up with what they did last year.
4. Rams. Have a good chance at losing 13 games this year.

AFC South

1) Colts

AFC West

1) Chargers
2) Broncos - I think they'll be a real surprise team at about 8-8. It's weird to say someone can surprise with a record like that, but some expect them to be among the league's worst. I like what I'm hearing about their offense. The Broncos have gotten it done for years with spare parts at RB. Moreno was a head scratcher as high as he went to some, but I have a sneaking suspicion that he'll soon be among the elite backs and word out of Broncos insiders is that he's already set to be the center piece of their O. If he works out like I think he will, they will be fine offensively. On D, they were at the stage last year where they can't really go backwards.
3) Raiders
4) Chiefs

NFC East

1) Giants
2) Commanders - Another surprise team. If they can stay healthy on the offensive line, it won't matter who's their quarterback because they'll run it down everyone's throats and I expect their defense to be elite.
3) Cowboys
4) Eagles

NFC North

1) Minnesota
2) Chicago
3) Green Bay
4) Detroit

NFC South

1) Altanta
2) Carolina
3) New Orleans
4) Tampa Bay

NFC West

1) Seattle - I think they were the most injured team in the league last year. If not, they were top 2. The people who think the Cowboys tanked because of an average number of injuries should wonder how this team won a game. This is still a good, battle tested squad, that has been places. They'll prove their worth this year and put the rest of this putrid division back in it's right order.
2) Arizona
3) San Francisco
4) St. Louis

I take it you missed the Commanders before they started to have problems along the OL last year? I know we're Cowboys' fans, but they're got a capable team up there. Laugh now and you might be crying when they wax us at some point later this year.

man its hard to believe a cowboys fan has this perpective on my team..but you are so on the money with this, its gonna be a dog fight(sorry vick)in our division again..but if my Commanders stay fairly healthy on the oline and campbell shows improvement,my D will be stout as ever i keep telling people the Commanders will be a tough out!!!

No way the Chargers finish last in that division - they are one of the most talented teams in the entire league and they get Merriman back this season. Plus a healthy Cromartie...they would be my pick in the AFC. I hate the Patriots....

1. Patriots - Easily the class of the division if Brady is back fully. Even if not, they still have enough horses to win the conference. The Fred Taylor signing was sneaky.
2. Jets - I think they could be the Ravens of 2009 if Sanchez can do a good Flacco impression. If their running game is good and the defense improves, they might even squeak into the playoffs. Their OL is outstanding.
3. Dolphins - They will be an average team this year with more teams gunning for them. Five hundred at best.
4. Bills - Not enough defense and Owens will be campaigning openly for Vick very soon. Edwards does not impress me at all.

AFC North

1. Steelers - Same old, same old.
2. Ravens - Rex Ryan's defense made this team. I don't see them duplicating last year's performance. They are better than the Bengals or Browns.
3. Browns - Awful team. But better than last year's train wreck.
4. Bengals - The team will quit on Marvin Lewis.

AFC South

1. Titans - As long as their running game keeps going, they can take this division.
2. Colts - Losing two quality assistants will hurt. They look like a wildcard at best.
3. Jaguars - It all depends on Jones-Drew. If he stays healthy, they could challenge the Colts for second place.
4. Texans - Everyone's darlings to improve. I am not impressed. They are still the Texans.

AFC West

1. Chargers - Weakest division in football will give them an easy ride.
2. Chiefs - It all depends on their defense. They need a pass rush.
3. Raiders - Could sneak up higher, especially if Garcia starts sooner than later.
4. Broncos - I am still trying to figure out what they are doing. Moreno will be the rookie of the year though.

NFC East

1. Giants - As long as they can run, they can win. A lot.
2. Eagles - Not as great as their roster looks, but should still get second place and the top wildcard.
3. Cowboys - Looks like there are all the trappings for another late season collapse. Could still do what they should have done last year and backdoor in. If they do, they could finally win a playoff game and save Phillips' job.
4. Commanders - More five hundred ball at best. Snyder will fire Zorn at the end of the season.

NFC North

1. Bears - Sleeper for the conference if Cutler is all he's cracked up to be. They still need WRs.
2. Vikings - With or without Favre, good enough for a wildcard.
3. Packers - That defense will be a mess for a year at least.
4. Lions - Could sneak up on a lot of teams. Not as bad as thought.

NFC South

1. Panthers - Only as far as the running game can take them.
2. Saints - Will threaten for the division. Williams will shape up their defense.
3. Falcons - Their defense will be exposed early and often through the air. I was shocked they didn't address CB and actually think they can contend with what they have.
4. Buccaneers - Will be the worst team in the NFC.

NFC West

1. Seahawks - A team that flew under the radar this offseason. If they are healthy, they can surprise. Winning divisional games will be their ticket to the postseason.
2. Cardinals - Warner will show his age and dumping Pendergast was a dumb move. One team always slumps after the Super Bowl and they, not Pittsburgh, will.
3. 49ers - No QB, no chance.
4. Rams - Improved D, not much else.

Patriots - Giants again. New England wins this time around.
