AFC East
1. Patriots. Brady is back and since he's not a runner the knee thing won't hamper him as much as it would, say Mcnabb. They take the East back. Also don't forget that they still have Moss and Welker to throw to and, oh yeah, they added that ageless wonder with speed Joey Galloway. They'll be a force.
2. Bills. If Owens and Evans stay healthy they make the playoffs.
3. Dolphins. They'll comeback to the pack this year. No sneaking up on anyone and no easy schedule to bail them out.
4. Jets. The 2008 decline continues.
AFC North
1. Steelers. Legal issues aside, cause they'll cause some issues, they're still the kings of the division.
2. Ravens. The only thing that hurts them, possibly, is if Flacco struggles at all. If he continues to improve they'll be a force.
3. Bengals. They just plain stink.
4. Browns. They still can't decide who their QB is and they're in a situation where they're making it all worse by keeping the two they have. They have to get rid of one so the other can take it over. My guess is Quinn eventually wins the starting job.
AFC South
1. Colts. They'll struggle early but Peyton is Peyton. They'll still win the division.
2. Texans. Yeah BABY! I think this is their year to FINALLY contend for the division and win a WC berth. The QB issues for the Titans will help this.
3. Titans. Controversy will be brewing STRONG by the time game one roles around. Season long back and forth this team takes a dive.
4. Jaguars. This actually should be an up year for them, going by recent trends, but I think this year is the year Del Rio finally gets the axe. Sad really.
AFC West
1. Chargers. Class of the Division. Without a doubt. The people picking them 3rd and 4th? Did they trade Phillip Rivers and I didn't hear about it? As long as they have Rivers they're in it.
2. Chiefs. They'll improve cause of improved QB play and the product of a very weak division with the Raiders and Broncos in it.
3. Raiders. They get out of the basement but only because McDaniels has proven he's an idiot.
4. Broncos. Having Orton instead of Cutler made them 6-10 at best and now they're also going to have an uhappy WR. I wouldn't be shocked, at all, with a defense as bad as theirs and McDaniels bonehead moves if this is the team with the #1 pick in the draft next offseason. 2-14 here you come!
NFC East
1. Cowboys. Romo gets the critics off his back, an improved running game, and spreading the ball around erases the fears that Owens was the only guy on this offense who could do anything.
2. Eagles. Pains me to say this. I hate them. But they're clearly the biggest challenge to Dallas this season. They had a great offseason and could win this division.
3. Commanders. Solid defensive play will keep them afloat enough to win the dog fight with the Gmen for the bottom of the division.
4. Giants. Great defense, still, but not great enough to hold opponents to 10 or less points per game, which is what they'll have to do to have a shot. They need the Ravens defense that won the Superbowl, they don't have that. Eli will struggle mightly without Plax and the running game will take a HUGE blow not having Ward to spell Glass Joe, I mean Brandon Jacobs.
NFC North
1. Vikings. They win the division either way but I think they become the team to beat w/Favre.
2. Bears. If Cutler can get one of his WR's to show up and give him a legit threat this team will be tough.
3. Packers. I was wrong about Rodgers I think. The kid can actually play. They'll contend for the WC with the Bears.
4. Lions. They won't go 0-16 but they haven't done enough to do much more than 3-13.
NFC South
1. Panthers. I think Jake rebounds, they've still got Smith, an outstanding 1-2 punch in the running game, and their defense is still pretty salty.
2. Saints. Should be a WC contender. Drew Brees keeps them in every contest.
3. Falcons. They comeback to Earth a bit. Teams will start focusing on shutting the running game down and forcing Ryan to beat them and he'll struggle a bit with that this year.
4. Buccaneers. They will be in the fight with Denver for the #1 pick.
NFC West
1. 49ers. If they can just get average play at the QB position they're going to be pretty decent. Solid defense and a good running game and should have improved WR play.
2. Seahawks. A last run at things for Matt. They'll fall short.
3. Cards. They comeback to where they actually are. A great offense, with no defense, that won't find the ball bouncing their way nearly as often this year.
4. Rams. The only other team in the picture for the #1 pick with the Bucs and Broncos.
Pick to Win it all -
Heart says Cowboys, as it tends to do. So that's my rose colored glasses pick...
Logical Pick....Patriots or Vikings (if they've got Favre). Most likely the Patriots to close out the decade. Brady returns, shows he's brilliant even off a knee injury, and joins Joe Montana as the only 3 time Superbowl MVP and joins only Bradshaw and Montana as 4 Time Superbowl Winning QBs.
