I'm sorry if this is a repeat, but any mention of a Cowboy draft pick is news for me.

FWIW, Rob Lang's NFL draft blog put the the following 5 players as his top steals:

Mark Ingram (28th overall)
Rodney Hudson (55th)
Daniel Thomas (62nd)
Dwayne Harris (176th)
Greg Jones (185th)

"WR Dwayne Harris, Cowboys -- selected No. 176 overall: I wasn't particularly high on the Cowboys' draft, overall, but I believe they found a steal in Harris, one of the better slot receiver prospects in this draft. Harris is everything Roy Williams is not. Dedicated, tough, and possessing reliable hands. "

So Lang wasn't too particular about the team's overall draft yeah whatever drafting an offensive lineman in the first round isn't exactly a wow factor to alot of closed minded people like Lang.

I loved this draft however it pans out down the road remains to be seen but the guys drafted to me are good gritty players.

I think Harris will be a great fit in this offense and I think he will get some valuable playing time this season.

I liked our draft just fine, thank you.
We drafted guys that not only had physical skills, but showed great work ethic, mental toughness, and overall character.

Would I have done it slightly different? Sure. But I doubt anyone would have picked the exact same players.

Most of the pundits' issues with our draft were not related to us taking Tyron Smith. It had to do with almost all of the others though.

As for Harris....I've said this before...if the 176th pick in the draft just makes the team, you have drafted well. If he makes a noticable contribution, then you got a steal. I say he contributes his very 1st season.

It's interesting Rang says he wasn't high on the 'Boys draft overall, as he often projected them to select Smith in his mocks (and also often had him rated in his top 10 players). He also had LB Bruce Carter as a solid 2nd (despite the injury). Then he considers Harris a steal.

IIRC, the CB the Boys selected was also slated as a 4th-5th rd pick, and he was selected in the 5th. Prehaps he didn't like Murray? I think Murray could wind up being a great selection.

In 2 years I can actually see 8 players from the last 2 Drafts as starters in Dallas.

Bryant
Lee
Smith
Carter
Murray
Harris (3 WR set) or Chapas (2 back pro set)
Arkin

Looks reasonable.

Arkin and Harris are wildcards somewhat, but I like their odds.
Murray's promotion depends on Felix's reliability, imo.

I wasn't questioning whether or not you liked the draft because I know you did I read your posts after the draft about how happy you were about it.

I was questioning the pundit Lang about his sutle comment about not being very high on it and that is okay with me because he wasn't the only mediot who thought the same way.

I agree that Harris can earn some playing time this season.

Oh, I know.
I made that statement to further back up what you were saying.
We're on the same page, imo.

I might argue that we NEED that to be the case. Generally speaking you need to have a solid base of players playing under their original contracts (good value) in order to balance the guys playing on their 2nd deals.

I'm starting to get concerned about that regarding our current roster.

I would throw AOA in the mix as well considering we don't have any veteran safeties under contract.
