Man, one of my favorite things to see on this forum is when someone who has an opinion one way, gives credit in the other direction when appropriate.

It rarely happens because people dig in so deeply on their side of a debate. Really nice to see it.

It is part of the reason you're one of the posters that I like to read.

Kudos brother.

His DL was primary in doing that. That and a lot of luck got them there as well. But I do think Coughlin is a good coach.

I think he is also. Unfortunately he doesn't have that Dline 2 deep anymore. Spags is back, but this go around won't be the same!

Heard an interview on a Giants podcast where they interviewed Dwayne Harris and asked him to compare and contrast the Cowboys/Giants environment

Said Cowboys practices are much more intense and competitive.. Described everyone as being on edge

Said Giants practice is more "Professional" and that guys have fun and look out for each other's safety

Also commented on the Dez/Patmon situation and said that that is normal for Cowboys practices and that Dez is just that way and that it isn't a big deal

Additionally said that the Giants were an overall more finesse group

Just thought it was interesting to hear what he had to say.. I am glad that we are on the intense side of things rather than the finesse side of things lol

if you want to listen to the whole thing here is the link http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2015/08/listen_giants_training_camp_overview_surprises_top.html

lol, yea, a 6-10 type of finesse

I still respect their offense. They scored almost 24 ppg which isn't great but likely would have been better had they had a decent run game. They averaged 3.6 YPC and gave up 4.9 YPC.

Anyone seen videos of the Seahawks practices under Carroll. They have a AT&T type of sound system and the players make friendly wagers for who gets to make the playlists everyday. Coaches get it on walk trough day. New school for sure.

They've got a good QB and an awesome young WR. That's a good recipe for scoring in today's NFL. This year they'll have Cruz back and Eli will be in his second year of this offense. I expect it to be tougher sledding for Beckham because he's going to get doubled a lot more this year, but I still think they're going to be really good on offense if they can find any blocking at all.

I've had a hard time giving JG credit for the "it" factor too, but I'll take our practice description any day over "laid back". There is a sense of toughness to this team that I may have inappropriately attributed to player acquisitions (OL) and players like Dez, Murray, Ro, and now Hardy. I do like that the county club atmosphere is gone and JG probably has a lot more to do with that than my ego will allow until we win big next season. :D

"In Dallas, it's like all-out brawl," said Harris, several hours before the Giants had anugly fight of their own on the practice field. "It's an all-out brawl."

Calling the Cowboys training camp an "all out brawl" is about the highest complement that an ex player could pay the team.

I don't want anyone comfortable in camp. I don't want anyone relaxed in camp. I don't want anything fun for the players. I want a tough, hard-nosed camp where everyone from Romo down to the bottom of the roster players are worried about their performance and the competition for their spot on the 53.

I absolutely love it. Like I said... not much could have made me feel any better about the team than this.

I do as well. We could have the 84' Bears defense and Eli would still drip 24 on us! He plays his best against us for some reason!!

Anyone who is still doubting Garrett and the direction he's taking the franchise, should be able to read Harris' comments and feel relieved that we now know Garrett is doing it the right way.

This is 100% the way I want the team run. I don't want the players any more comfortable than they were under Jimmy Johnson... which is to say, not at all.

When Jimmy Johnson left, all the players talked about how much more fun they had under Barry Switzer than they did the intense Johnson. How relaxed they were.

Of course the players are going to enjoy less competition for their spots and more security in their jobs. Why wouldn't they?

Well, the team is finally not comfortable anymore. Finally.

As for the more "professional" atmosphere... that's what the players said with Switzer after Johnson and with Wade Phillips after Bill Parcells. The "he treats us like men" remarks are always the beginning of the end of good teams.

So, so glad that Garrett is more like Jimmy and a lot less like Wade.

Said Giants practice is more "Professional"

Yup, everytime I read about Garrett and the Cowboy's practices, all I think of is how unprofessional they are. Romo, Witten, Dez, the OL, SLee, Scandrick, and the rest of that d. So unprofessional. No one takes practice seriously.

I don't think he meant to imply the Cowboys' practices from unprofessional. I thought his comments were highly complimentary of the Cowboys.

Again, he said Giants were more professional. Guess we view his point of view differently.

They need to come up with a running game. Teams are going to play more base nickel if they don't.
