Sorry Count you're a little off base here. You should read into this problem a little more. Gamestop is very, very shady. The gaming community and game companies hate them. EA is only the first company to do this...Many will follow.

This is the fundamental mistake you're making. They aren't giving anything away for free. It was already paid for. And it shouldn't matter where the game is purchased from, because no two people can use those features at the same time.

Software can not be "broken", so your car analogy doesn't work here.

it's not, it's free bonus content for those who buy the game new

As long as it's a new sealed copy you get it for free with the game regardless of where you buy it

Software cannot be broken if you buy it digitally but of course if you do this it also cannot be resold. If you buy a physical copy then the medium where it's stored can be broken if that's the case with a 2nd hand game the publisher is not obligated to replace your game, it's between you and the seller. If the codes to unlock the bonus content is already used then that an issue between you and the seller as well.

It is also something that can kill sales and turn of your customer base you have to be careful if you are not getting extra upgraded content then you could cost yourself in the long run. It has happen more than once in the Video Game industry.

Will see what happens but EA has gone to crap in a handbasket and their getting worse I seen that company destroy more Online MMORPG because the management is clueless. They have shutdown more MMORPG than I can remember. They have bought two previous good companies and that has gone to well lots of ****** in a basket. If EA went bellyup and disappeared from the fave of the earth I cheer and at would tome they use to have good quality products now I just avoid them when I can.

Online play is not "free bonus content".

I think that's where you're missing the point. We're not talking about special attacks or a free alternate outfit for Ryu. I'm not sure what a physically damaged disc has to do with any of this. The software itself can never be broken, a damaged disc is not broken software.

That'd be fine and dandy if it only effected Gamestop. I'm not defending Gamestop, I don't shop there. I'm defending the right of an individual to do what they please with a game they already paid for.

I gave up on Madden after 2005.

I'd either play on rookie and win by 40, or play on the next level (Pro?) and lose by 10.

Even adjusting the sliding scales, I could never get to a point where the games were genuinly interesting. That, and the feature I enjoyed the most, the draft, was terrible. Teams would take QB's in the first round two years in a row, no attention given to needs, no depth at certain positions (i.e. no DE's available after the 4th round, ect).

Shame too, because I used to love that game.

No offense but you just flat sucked at Madden then. :p

On rookie you only won by 40? On rookie you should be putting up a 100+ point win on folks unless you're playing 1 minute quarters.

On pro you should be winning, at the very least, by 50 points. Pro isn't much more than rookie, in all honesty.

You should have tried All-Pro, at the very least, and tweaked the settings until you found the happy area you wanted.

I completely feel your pain about the draft though. That kind of stuff would annoy the crap out of me as well because the computer always seemed to draft so stupid for other teams.

I also hated how teams will go into seasons with like 3 DEs, total. two on the left and one on the right and then their depth charts would just be putting whoever, wherever, to be the backup.

Stupid.
