Don't denegrate the entire city, Philadelphia is actually a really cool place with some great restaurants and nightlife, theater, the Italian market, Chinatown, etc. It really is about Eagles fans. Even fans of the other three professional sports teams don't act the way they do.

Philly is definitely not the arm pit of America, and when you call it that, I can see why someone who is from there might be insulted.

I would instead limit your criticism to the Philadelphia Eagles organization, how they treat their players, and the fans of the team and how they act.

Let me tell ya about Philly...Oh I guess I was about 7 years old when I went to stay over my sister's house who lived in philly...there was a puppy chained outside a house..who was whinning cause it did not want to be chained there...when out comes the guy from the house and swings the puppy around with the chain and gets it going as fast as he can and then whacks the puppy on the house and blood and guts where everywhere...that is the philly I know

another time I was visiting a brother there in Willow grove or view or someplace like that he lived in a big ole apartment complex there...about the 3rd day there I hear this girl screaming and crying for help I run around the corner of one of the buildings and this guy is just beating the *((** out the poor woman so I jumped in to break it up and knock the jerk around a bit and try to give the woman some first aid...no one would help me regardless of how many walked pass me must have been easily 12 people I asked someone to call for an ambulance but was told they would rather not be involved...I walk the lady over to the 7-11 and they made me use the pay phone because their phone was only for store emergencies...finally got an ambulance to come and thought that was the end of the story but no was meet in the breeze way by a couple of punks after that was finished I figured it was all over but no my brothers car tires got slashed and the windshield broken his wife and kids were being harrassed and he got worried and asked me to leave...that is the philly I know

I have about 3 other stories I could tell you about Philly all true and all bad
but that is the philly I know

Thanks for the links, I am e-mailing them to her at work right now with my compromise.

:laugh2:

Maybe you should just get the kid a TO eagles jersey.. It will be on sale for sure and the wife will think that you are letting the kid wear eagles stuff...

as long as the kid knows the correct answer to the question.. What team do you like?.. you are all set. That way when someone sees the kid in the jersey and says, oh do you like the eagles.. he can respond with.. no .. I like the Cowboys.. then people will see the jersey as a joke :D

What is with all of this talk about compromise??? If you let that kid into Philly gear she has won. That's no way to start a marriage. Put your foot down, let her know who wears the pants in your family...at least that is what I would do (please place heavy sarcasm on "at least that is what I would do")

I agree. What's all this compromise & letting her do what she wants because she's your Wife Chatter I'm hearing? I would just lay it down simple and Fast " Listen women My Boy does not wear Philli Clothing in this house and that's Final" There shouldnt be anything said after that. If she has a problem with it then oh well.

Let me say "Hello" to all my fellow Boys fans. I have been a reader of this site for a few years but never got around to posting....

Anyway, here is my problem and I need you guys to help if you can.

I am a newly wed with a woman who originally is from Philly and we have a newborn son who is now 4 months old. I have him in Cowboys outfits and last night she talked about getting him Philly garb as well..

We got into a big fight about this and I told her how Philly is the armpit of the USA and there fans are complete and utter trash and I would never allow my son to be dressed in that trash..

She is a casual fan and has no idea of the Philly fan and there goings on.

Is there a website that documents there legendary criminal activity? Where can I get specific examples of there kind?

Thanks for the help

Man Dude you are going to be newly divorced if you keep that armpit stuff up. I have lived here in Philly all my life and it isnt that bad. Naturally you have to put up with the Philly fans bull once in a while but they usually shut up after there team goes in the toilet.
A little advice ok...yes dear,no dear,no honey that dress doesnt make you look fat,i was just stretching my neck i swear!!

That's typical of every city with a "bad part of the neighborhood." NYC got several of them. It's the apathy that comes from "looking out for number 1." And the pathetic "Code of the Streets" where you don't talk to the police about anything.

You gotta be careful when you get involved in stuff like that. You seem like a good dude. But there's hardly a place for Good Samaritans in those places. A story from a friend's dad. When he was young, he was watching this couple arguing and the man struck her down. A bystander got involved and shoved the boyfriend off. Only the girlfriend then stabs the would-be Samaritan in the back with a blade, saying "Nobody touches my man."

I'm not saying you can't take care of yourself. But I'm saying be cautious. Too many crazies in the city. It's nice that you wanna help. I hope you never change. Nice to know someone cares.

To the thread starter. It's not worth fighting about. Let your kid choose his colors. He's only 4 months old. Let your wife buy the gear. It'll be cool. If he chooses the Eagles later on in his life, you can disown him. :D

One more thing. Philly isn't the armpit of America. New Jersey is. :D :D

i grew up in PA. my first football jersey was a tony dorsett cowboys jersey. then, mom and dad bought me some eagles shirts.

i turned out fine, despite my parent best efforts.

Just Google bad behavior and insert the team of choice. There's no shortage of losers in the fan base of every franchise, so it shouldn't be hard finding.

Know that for every incident you find, there's probably one she could find about us to.

Not worth fighting over something as petty as this.

Its hard to find women from the 18th century. Sounds like you are a little insecure to me.

Im divorced. My ex is (actually was until last year) an eagles fan. now she's a steelers fan LOL...and i have always been a cowboys fan.

Anyway, at some point she and her dad thought it would be cool to turn our daughter into an eagles fan, and used the whole idea that she could rile me up with it and that it would be real funny.

So, after trying to teach my daughter about sports and football, she comes home one day and tells me she's an eagles fan and the cowboys stink haha. So i said, OK, fine we'll see....the cowboys have a history of greatness, what do your eagles have.

So she was having some fun while she was 7,8,9 giving me a hardtime because the eagles were routinely beating the cowboys. But after the past fwe years she has paid enought attention to the game, and watched the eagles management and team make stupid moves and watched the eagles players fold in the big games and listened to all the fans screaming and crying and moaning about their team.....and two years ago she decides she has had enough of her mom and other fickle fans constantly trash their own team while i have been getting excited watching the Boys rebuild and showing her players like T Glenn and Roy williams and she decides on her own that the eagles stink and she is going to be a cowboys fan now.

So the past 2 years she has been wearing dallas cowboys stuff to school and aggravating all her teachers and the rest of the students (it was great this year when her teachers were humbled after the Boys swept the birds) and laughing at her mom and giving everyone up hear a hard time about being an eagles fan. She wore her cowboys stuff to school on eagles spirit day, i was so proud of her !!!

So, let the kid wear cowboys and eagles stuff if it will make your wife happy. As your kid watches football over the next few years, which team do you think he will rather be a fan of ?
