The Eagles remind me of the 2016 Cowboys team but better. Good RPO QB who's, a threat to run, and hard to bring down. Which helps the running game by keeping the defense guessing. The QB is a decent passer who makes timely throws and has a lot of time due to the running threat. They have a good Oline. AJ Brown is their Dez Bryant. Good TE play. I think there defense is a little better than what the Cowboys had. They also seem to have a better coaching staff. They will be tough to beat this season.

- Eagles do not anything that is near remotely close to what we had with the 2016 Zeke Elliott. He was basically Adrian Peterson 2.0 ... with an incredibly combination of homerun speed and burst,
great power and leg drive, and a knack for the goal line. And we were deadly with the RB screens to Zeke (something Kellen simply does not prefer)
and Linehan was not running RPO's for Dak.

- i do agree with WR and TE comparisons - only Donvate Smith is better than what we had with TWill. But the Eagles don't a slot guy on the level of Cole Beasley.

- i do think the Eagles have a much better pass rush than what our 2016 team had, Dlaw, Collins, Crawford, McClain and Irvin.
and they have a better secondary than what we had in 2016, with Church, Claiborne, Byron and Carr.
Although this 2022 Eagles defense also has it's own run defense issues as we do.

- Dunno who Eagles are playing/starting at LT ... but he really got handled last night vs the Texans.

Relax. No one thinks or has said Hurts is the next Montana. He's 11-0 over his last 11 games and has improved a lot but everyone knows he's limited. Can't you just say he's playing well? But I do see your point with Dak. I think we are looking for someone to blame
I think Hurts is playing well. Never said he wasnt. However. If this were Dak doing exactly what Hurts is doing. You would get the "Dak cant throw for 300 yards, or cant throw for TDs, or well its against bad teams."

Thats what is annoying to me. The double standard. And its not just our fans, its also the media. I have literally heard Stephen a bash the Cowboys for beating up on the Bears yet sing the Eagles praises for smashing on Pittsburgh. Its mind boggling

There OL is not better than that 2016 period. That was the 2nd best OL since the BIG NASTY E days.

This infatuation with Hurts needs to stop. When Dak beats bad teams its all we hear about here. Hurts does it and hes the second coming of Joe Montana. It's mind boggling how our own fans prop other QBs up instead of their own.

Last season it was all about how Dak was destroying bad teams. What is Hurts doing now? Ask yourselves that question
Dak is a slightly better passer and Hurts is a much better runner.
Both are Tier 3 material and need a major talented supporting cast to succeed.
Peas in a pod really as they both need to be carried big time!
Let's hope the Eagles make the same mistake Jerry made with Dak's contract which will cost them at least 1 SB and tons of wasted talent.
Just like we did since 2016....

We’ll see how it all plays out, but they do not scare me. Doesn’t mean we’ll catch them for the division.

They play disciplined football. Hurts squats 600 lbs therefore you gotta bring it to sack him, and I didn't see him throw late into triple coverage. The Eagles had another gear they could have used and made it a blow out. That RB for the Texans kept this game close. He looked like rookie Zeke out there.

in 2 years with a new coach the Eagles are 8-0 and probably a candidate to go to the CCG at least . Shows what a good GM and coaching can do in a short time . Not to mention the Eagles already have a super bowl a few years ago. So sad to see how Jerry has mis-managed this franchise for so long...

Is this another thread where we falsely conflate read-option and RPO?

Personnel wise for sure but they are really weird. They seem ti stumble in second half of games…
The Eagles underachieve on defense. With the personnel they have, that defense should be top-five across the board. But I have never been a fan of their defensive coordinator, Gannon. I think he holds them back with poor schemes during games. This is one of two reasons I don't believe the Eagles will go far in the playoffs (Hurts is the other reason). If he Eagles had the equal of Jim Johnson running the defense, I would give them a chance against any team. Jonathan Gannon is three tiers below a Jim Johnson.

I was impressed with their offense last night. They seemed to be ‘trying things out’ knowing they were playing the Texans.

Given how easily they moved the ball, I’m shocked they only put up 29 points. I think a lot if that had to do with Houston’s offense sustaining long drives against their ‘D’. They didn’t look so hot last night.

I was thinking the same thing. Hurts is in his 3rd year though. Dak was good as a rookie. I figure next year the Eagles will have to give Hurts the big contract. And this will be interesting to watch. I am going to bet Hurts does a long term deal, 6-10 years, not 4 years like Dak. So his CAP impact will not hurt the team for another 3 or 4 years. That means the Eagles will have a 4 year window to keep their team intact, aside from the aging players who will retire or fade, like Kelce, Cox Lane Johnson, and Graham.

Shouldn't be ..Stephen A. has long been referring to himself as a Philly fan.

Although Jerry has exposed him on national TV as being " A fraud.. that is really a Cowboys fan " :muttley:

Yes, Dak was better in 2016 in fact he's never even come close to those appearances and quality wins.
Never forget the team he had around him top of the tops surrounding him on offense.
Bad Dak showed up once again while Rodgers was scoring 28 points in the first 3 Q while Dak could only manage 13.
He did his (usual for us now) 4th Q stampede against prevent defenses which Once again he fell a day and a dollar short.
Just stop with this lunacy. So sick of hearing it.

Yes, he came back to tie the game in the 4th not once but twice because GB was in a prevent.

Are you kidding me? Go back and rewatch the game.

Eagles have the easiest schedule I have ever seen. That 8-0 record is not that impressive. They have all the so called hard out of conference games at home. Came out of bye with Pitt and Houston. We come out at Green Bay and Minnisota. There only impressive win was over us with our back up QB.

The Eagles are much better than our 2016 team. Their defense is currently ranked fourth and our 2016 team was ranked 13th in defense. Plus Jalen Hurts has a lot more experience than Dak in 2016. Hurts is beginning to come into his own. Although the 2016 Cowboys ranked fifth offensively, which is the same ranking that Philly has this season their passing offense is a lot more productive than our passing offense was in 2016. Hurts is on pace for over 4000 yards. Their team is more seasoned with experience. The Cowboys had several rookies they were counting on in 2016.
