Yeah right 1 man game. lol get real

If you don't have a solid QB in todays game who's clutch and is capable of carrying their team at some point during the season and in the playoffs you're not going to win a SB. The last 6 SB's have come down to QB's having to make plays in the final minutes to pull the games out. The last 4 SB MVP's have all been QB's it's a QB driven league.

That has always been the case even the avg QB had very good years in their SB run but it still takes lot of people to win both offense and defense as well as special teams. Games coming down to 1 FG to move on or to even win the game. It is a team accomplishment always has been always will be. Running around hollering it is the QB is stupid it is more than just the QB. As for MVP so fricken what it is given to the QB and has been since we had a SB

I'm not trying to knock Barry Sanders...he's one of the greatest ever. Just trying to point out that a player can be great and not have it come all together for them in the post season.

Winning the SB isn't easy. It takes quiet a few things going right at the right time and a little bit of luck thrown in, too.

I feel a player can be considered great even if they didn't get to enjoy as much post season success as some. Just MHO.

Sanders was a diamond amongst trash in Detroit which is why he finally got fed up and retired. He was by far the best player Detroit had all teams had to do was contain him to beat the Lions. It wasn't easy containing him but good teams could do it especially in the playoffs. Once you stopped Sanders Detroit didn't have the QB or a good enough defense to get it done. A player such as a RB, LB or corner can be considered "great" if they didn't enjoy much postseason success because they can't influence the outcome of games like a QB.

A QB has to have at least some playoff success to be considered "great" unless they made their mark with spectacular regular season performances like Marino and Fouts. Peyton Manning has a 9-11 playoff record but he's arguably the greatest regular season QB in history. His accomplishments during the regular season have been staggering but even he's had some playoff success that led to a championship.

Too bad Chip didn't have more time, he would have compared Jerry to Bob Craft, and Garrett to Tom Landry.

Of course...any coach that thinks Romo is a good quarterback (and there are quite a few) are know nothing's and don't belong in the NFL.

Romo was on the top 100 a couple of times, too. Players are so dumb.

Actually, I've never once heard one that sutdied him that did not think he was very, very good. Never...not one.

And the closer they look, the more they like him. Some of these guys (coaches and ex QBs) have not studied film on the guy. So when they finally do (example, Belichik a couple of years ago) the come away very impressed.

This coach did not say anywhwere that Romo was as good as Brady overall.
That would be absurd, imo.
So the haters need not panic.

I'm not trying to compare Romo to Peyton, Marino or other all timers...that would be silly. I do, however, believe that he has potential to be considered a great by the time his career is over.

I'm not going to go with some on here and say he'll never win anything or that his time has come and gone already.

Winning a championship is a team accomplishment but the QB will always get most of the credit especially in todays game where QB's have more on their plate than ever before. It's a pass first league QB's have to perform at a high level to win games. The Pats were just another team and Belichick was just another HC until Brady showed up. Brady is winning with a cast of misfits right now. Denver was an 8-8 team until Manning showed up. Put Tebow back behind center in Denver and the Broncos would be lucky to have 2 wins this season with their defense that ranks only one spot higher than the Cowboys.

Peyton Manning makes that team special. QB's have routinely been named SB MVP because even years ago the QB was the difference maker in those games. Only Cowboy FANS take exception to QB's receiving so much of the credit for winning championships and we all know why. Cowboy FANS spend most of their time tearing apart the games of QB's who've won multiple championships.

He'suote="dragon_mikal, post: 5242762, member: 597"]Romo is certainly one of the best in the league at extending the play and sometime turning nothing into something. It's this aspect of his game that makes him such a pleasure to watch.[/quote]

He's one of the best ever at that

Pour it on, coach.

As for me, give Tona a couple of super bowl trophies (or even a 2nd playoff win) and me too will make that comparison. Otherwise Tona is just another Danny White but without the charisma.
Disclaimer: When Tona became our QB ah totally loved the mans. But, Tona, fool me once, fool me twice, fool me manys times and eventually ah came to belief that you were NOT our next Roger Staubach.

o_O Do some people just piss and moan in every positive thread here without actually reading? He compared them in regards to their ability to move and put themselves in positions make plays. Beyond that, he was just commenting on how good Romo is. Good grief, this forum is becoming unbearable...

In Brady SB wins Pats had a top ranked defense without it they have not won a SB. Of course QB is important no one has ever said otherwise but to win it take a team not 1. It is not who is the best passing team it is who has the best team period.
QB have been handed the MVP for the SB when Bart Starr was playing, the award most often is given to the QB but 99 percent of the time it could just as easily be given to another player. Whose play was outstanding in the game.

Brady right now is the QB of an offense who ranks 22nd in points scored a passing offense than is only putting up 228 a game ranked 19th but a running game that is ranked 11th in the league. Mean time on the other side of the ball they are 3rd in points allowed only giving up 16 points a game.

Get it Team sport a lot of players are making it happen Brady clearly is one of them but to act as if the others do not matter when fact is they do without the others they don't win.

Well there is bulletin board material and then there is this.
For the record I agree with most of it

Oh my..

the BS just gets deeper.

This maybe a rookie HC we are playing..

...but he butters up the opposition like a veteran coach does before big games..

..as Parcells used to say..

"don't eat the cheese..".

Take Sanders off those Detroit teams and they wouldn't have made the playoffs those years. Their best team was in 91 when they went 12-4 and Sanders produced 1548 yards and 17 TD's. No way would Detroit have had near the success without Sanders production. Back in the early to mid 90's you could win a lot of games with a dominant runner as we saw with the Cowboys and Emmitt. The Cowboys started the 93 season 0-2 without Emmitt even though they had an incredibly talented roster but Emmitt made that Cowboys team go.

As for Romo he'll never be considered "great" he's built too much of a negative reputation for himself in big games. He would have to start winning playoff games and championships to erase the stigma he has and at 33 playing for a dysfunctional team that hasn't made the playoffs in 3 years I don't see that happening.

I've been through this before with FANS crediting Brady's defenses for his SB wins. Those NE teams would have won nothing without Brady and that franchise wouldn't be where it is without him. You need to get it that the QB is the most critical component to winning championships. Brady is the QB of an offense that is lacking at the skill positions but he's still finding ways to win.

So when Herman Moore set the NFL record for receptions in a season he wasnt any good?

The kicker wasnt any good?

The OL wasnt any good?

Thats just for starters, but a team good enough to get to an NFC Championship has more than a bunch of trash. Sanders had some pretty decent OL's as well.

Emmitt had "IT" and made the guys around him better. Barry didnt have an effect on his team mates that made them better, or elevated their level of play, like Emmitt. Barry had great stats and individual achievements, but was not a guy that brought the team together in a positive way. He was aloof amongst other things.

You actually believe a lesser QB could have the same success Brady is having right now with parts he has on offense right now? Are you going to tell me Romo would be 5-1 with that team?
