That is going to change because Philly will have to deal with Hurts this off season before he reaches URF in 2023. Hell I hope he gets MVP because they will only drive his price tag higher. lol
I do agree they have 2 1st rd picks that is big

My guess is they would love one more year to evaluate him before giving the long-term contract. That would mean him playing in 2023 at a salary of $1.5M. Can't see any way in hell his agent will allow this.......he will force their hand, long-term, trade, or threaten to sit out.

Current Contract
  • Free Agent: 2024
  • Avg. Salary: $1,506,293
  • NFL Rank: 826
  • QB Rank: 55

Market Value
  • 6 yrs, $273,824,058
  • Avg. Salary: $45,637,343
  • NFL Rank: 5
  • QB Rank: 5

Remember the rule:

Dak plays well - it's not Moore;

Dak plays poorly - it's Moore.

That's a new one.. I think how Dak plays is on him .. . What is not on him is how poorly Moore adapts when Dak is having a bad day. QBs have off days.. Those are the days when it's up to the OC to help him. It's not really that hard to understand. When Dak starts a game too amped up and is missing throws high you don't call anything over the middle. When he starts out with low energy for whatever reason you run him a couple of times to get him AND his teammates fired up.

It's absolutely on Moore to adapt his play calls to what's going on on the field whether that be about Dak or any other player. You ever notice how when other teams face our defense they paint a bullseye on the corner not named Diggs. Now think back on all the times the Cowboys came into a game and just torched the other teams #2 corner. Just went after him repeatedly until they either benched him or pulled a safety over to help every snap? Moore's problem isn't that he's dumb.. It's just that he has yet to develop that gut for when to call what plays. Some guys never get that.. I'm worried that he might be one of those.

It will be interesting to see the contracts Hurts and Lamar Jackson get,,,, kinda risky paying a high dollar running QB but, if you've got a good one, I guess you just pay it and accept the risk. Gotta pay for a quality backup too but elite QB not required.

I like how Shanihan did it in San Fran too. Build up your OL and defense and put your coaching emphasis on quality run blocking schemes, play action passes. Elite QB no longer required.

The hope with running QBs is they develop as passers and stop having to run as much as they mature in the game. We've seen it with other QBs who came into the league running a lot.. Steve Young, Randall Cunningham, Rich Gannon, even McNabb.. though frankly McNabb never got to be a good enough passer to stop running.. but he stopped running anyway and became useless shortly thereafter. Young QBs typically don't stop running until the game slows down enough for them .. That moment happens at different points for different guys. It is what it is..

Good observations though I would say there's a difference between QBs who occasionally run versus "running QBs". Jalen and Lamar fit firmly in the latter category, though I do think Jalen might eventually succeed as a serviceable pocket passer.

Every team has its ups and downs -- here's hoping what lies ahead for the Cowboys is more about ups than downs!

In all likelihood, Jalen Hurts will recover well from his injured shoulder and return to a significantly better health than lately.

At this point of the season, every team in the league has its injuries to deal with. What's crucial for every team is recovery.
