Marino's teams never had a running game to share the load, ala Elway with Davis late in career.Hostile;2894528 said:Richmond Webb was a true beast at LT in those days. Marino's teams never had a D to protect him. He was great.

Yeah and just like Cal Ripken, he does not when to quit ( even though cal did, I believe he sat down exactly 500 games past Gehrig's record). I think the numbers mean more to Farve than he will ever let on. If he plays 2 years, he will get to 70,000 yards, 500 tds and make get the game streak record (not sure about this) and still not shave...Hostile;2894502 said:You know, I can't argue with you on this. There's some truth to it.
He might not break the consecutive games started streak (which is unreal and amazing) but he probably will obliterate the rest.
I think Favre feels like he's one of the best still in the game and he is. There aren't 32 better QBs than him even nearing 40. Guy is amazing.
well we care more about our depth and know more about it.SLATEmosphere;2894563 said:That didn't stop a bunch of people on here bashing our "depth".

Hostile;2894448 said:Just not a popular opinion usually when talking about a guy with 1 Super Bowl win. I just marvel at how good he really is. It's a shame he hasn't had the pieces around him others have. Like Bill Walsh as his Head Coach.
I am not bashing Dungy whom I love by saying that last line. Walsh was a legend.
I take him over those guys.dbair1967;2894556 said:I couldnt put him close to the top-10.
Just off the top of my head and in no particular order:
Romo, McNabb, Cutler, Rodgers, Warner, Hasselback, Brees, Brady, Pennington, R'Berger, Palmer, P Manning, Schaub, Rivers, E Manning, Bulger
And because of age/upside I'd take Ryan, Flacco, Stafford and Sanchez before him too.
So basically I'd take him ahead of guys in Wash, Carolina, SF, Denver, KC, Buffalo (maybe), Jacksonville, Okaland
It has never bothered me a guy sticking around to get a record or set numbers.Joe Realist;2894566 said:Yeah and just like Cal Ripken, he does not when to quit ( even though cal did, I believe he sat down exactly 500 games past Gehrig's record). Stephenson and Webb both should be Hall of Famers.dbair1967;2894569 said:Dwight Stephenson was one of the best centers of all time. Ed Newman made 4 or 5 probowls in a row. Webb was a probowler almost every yr. Roy Foster made a few probowls. Keith Sims made numerous probowls too.
I wish they would just say so. It would be interesting to see.Hostile;2894581 said:It has never bothered me a guy sticking around to get a record or set numbers.
you are being kind about the backs and dont say Andra Franklin either, LOLdbair1967;2894574 said:They wanted to throw the ball, they had a good OL and some decent backs, but they were a pass first team. And Marino was a stat first guy. He wasnt happy when he wasnt getting his way with playcalling.
All of sports have their cliches though. We all know the numbers matter though.Joe Realist;2894585 said:I wish they would just say so. It woould be interesting to see.
Maybe Bulger. Other than him, you have a pretty tough argument to make because the rest, excluding Hasselbeck who was injured last season, all had MUUUUCH better seasons than Favre last year.Hostile;2894579 said:I take him over those guys.
Just my opinion. I respect your take, just don't agree.
yes, just ask Emmitt.Hostile;2894590 said:All of sports have their cliches though. We all know the numbers matter though.
