Richmond Webb was a true beast at LT in those days. Marino's teams never had a D to protect him. He was great.
Marino's teams never had a running game to share the load, ala Elway with Davis late in career.

You know, I can't argue with you on this. There's some truth to it.

He might not break the consecutive games started streak (which is unreal and amazing) but he probably will obliterate the rest.

I think Favre feels like he's one of the best still in the game and he is. There aren't 32 better QBs than him even nearing 40. Guy is amazing.
Yeah and just like Cal Ripken, he does not when to quit ( even though cal did, I believe he sat down exactly 500 games past Gehrig's record). I think the numbers mean more to Farve than he will ever let on. If he plays 2 years, he will get to 70,000 yards, 500 tds and make get the game streak record (not sure about this) and still not shave...

Dwight Stephenson was one of the best centers of all time. Ed Newman made 4 or 5 probowls in a row. Webb was a probowler almost every yr. Roy Foster made a few probowls. Keith Sims made numerous probowls too.

They wanted to throw the ball, they had a good OL and some decent backs, but they were a pass first team. And Marino was a stat first guy. He wasnt happy when he wasnt getting his way with playcalling.

Just not a popular opinion usually when talking about a guy with 1 Super Bowl win. I just marvel at how good he really is. It's a shame he hasn't had the pieces around him others have. Like Bill Walsh as his Head Coach.

I am not bashing Dungy whom I love by saying that last line. Walsh was a legend.

There are a few players that deserve their own special part of Canton. I'd fight tooth and nail to put Peyton in there. The guy is beyond his Super Bowl ring count.

My Uncle who lives out in Scottsdale is a HUGE Colts fan. If you called him right now and asked, what day did the Colts leave Baltimore he'll tell you the date, the day of the week, where he was when he heard the news, and what the weather was like outside. HUGE Colts fan. I couldn't help but call him seconds after their Super Bowl win, crying, laughing, acting like an 8 year old school girl who just got a pony for Christmas.

The guy loves his Colts and loves Peyton as well.

I couldnt put him close to the top-10.

Just off the top of my head and in no particular order:

Romo, McNabb, Cutler, Rodgers, Warner, Hasselback, Brees, Brady, Pennington, R'Berger, Palmer, P Manning, Schaub, Rivers, E Manning, Bulger

And because of age/upside I'd take Ryan, Flacco, Stafford and Sanchez before him too.

So basically I'd take him ahead of guys in Wash, Carolina, SF, Denver, KC, Buffalo (maybe), Jacksonville, Okaland
I take him over those guys.

Just my opinion. I respect your take, just don't agree.

It has never bothered me a guy sticking around to get a record or set numbers.

Stephenson and Webb both should be Hall of Famers.

IMO

All of sports have their cliches though. We all know the numbers matter though.

Maybe Bulger. Other than him, you have a pretty tough argument to make because the rest, excluding Hasselbeck who was injured last season, all had MUUUUCH better seasons than Favre last year.
