Eagles didn't exactly crush Texans either

All of the top playoff teams have had multiple ugly wins against lesser teams they should have beaten by 3 scores. We must still fear them though.

This is honestly sad. You shouldn’t have to compare your close win/loss to another team to make it seem as if our struggle was understandable. It was not. This team played horribly today. I don’t care if the Eagles struggled. I don’t care if the Chiefs struggled. I don’t care if the Commanders struggled. It’s not an excuse. This team is capable of playing at a much higher caliber and they barely looked like they could be a top college team. Regardless, stop using this “so and so struggled too”.
No need to be self-righteous about how poorly we played. No one is making excuses for the inconsistent and incompetent performance on both sides of the ball by our team vs. the Texans. Comparing positive or negative factors leading to other teams wins and losses isn't always about justification, it can also be about putting things in perspective. The bottom line is we won the game by digging ourselves out of the hole. We earned the win.

Their game against Houston was tied 14-14 at halftime and they were only up 21-17 going into the fourth quarter. Philadelphia scored eight points in the fourth quarter to put it away. That was without having the mistakes that we made to help Houston.

Not saying that means anything other than there's no real reason to panic. We'll see how we measure up to the Eagles a couple of weeks from now. Every game is different.
This is the NFL, any team can be beaten on a given Sunday, especially if you turn the football over. Believe 1st two turnovers led to 14 points.

It’s hard to keep focus on the NFL when playing a string of teams you’re a lot better then. This was our third straight game, and next week will be four straight, against teams the metrics say we’re 10+ points better then. Teams get bogged down in the mundane sometimes.

It wouldn’t shock me at all to lose to Jacksonville next week only to beat Philly by two touchdowns the next.

It was also the 3rd straight home game. The players were probably too relaxed for several reasons from it.The road trip to JAX may get them to refocus.

I really hate 3 home or 3 road games. The NFL does not need to do this. But yet they do.
For which we will get the Eagles on their 3rd straight road game when they come in. But based on yesterday, I can't see it as an advantage right now.

I was thinking about this today, not necessarily losing to Jacksonville, but barely beating the Jaguars. Fans want us to show dominance going into the Eagles game, but every game is different. We absolutely dominated Minnesota, which has been one of the best teams in the league this year (and pretty much dominated the team that handed the Vikings their third loss this weekend). Each game is its own adventure. What happens this week has little bearing on two weeks from now, although it might ease some concerns among fans if our team dominated this weekend.

In our Super Bowl season in 1992, we finished 13-3 in the regular season. Four of those victories were by a touchdown or less, including two of the last six, when we also lost to Washington. (We also lost the game before those final six, so we were 5-2 down the stretch.)

This year, we've had one game in the last six where we won by fewer than one touchdown (two if you count the Giants losing by eight) and one loss.

The Eagles have played close games against Detroit, Dallas with Cooper Rush, Indy, Houston, Jacksonville, Arizona, Green Bay and lost to Washington.

So?

They are still 12-1 and have demolished the last two teams they have played. We are 10-3 having just struggled in 7 of the last 8 quarters against bad teams when we should be peaking heading in the final quarter of the season.

You guys really struggle with admitting reality. This team right now isn’t on the same level as Philly.

The Texans have been in most of their games this season, the only team that really blew them out is the Raiders so go figure.

Last couple of games still do not have me turning cartwheels, what was it by the colts 5 straight TO. In the PO good teams don’t do that.

Philly didn’t crush the Texans but they did play them on the road and ended up beating them by 12 points. They certainly didn’t play as shoddy against them as we did today. I still can’t believe the Cowboys pulled the game out. They were out played for most of the game.

Turpin's turnover turned the whole game. The one thing crappy teams need to stay alive is turnovers, mainly game changing ones. We easily scored opening drive and was probably going to score again to go up 14. With that, game is WAY different. But it becomes 7-7 and Dallas plays in mud the rest of the way. Also, Schultz drops an easy TD before half and we settle for 3. Terrible 4th and goal playcalling.

Texans didn't really outplay us, they only capitalized on a few mistakes and stayed alive. Had they really outplayed us the whole game, they easily win.

It's really hard to just blame one play early in a game as the reason we came unraveled but honestly, this might be one of those times. That was such a momentum shift and deflator.

People need to realize this isn't college or high school. You don't routinely go out there and blow out even weaker teams. The league is purposely designed to avoid this as often.

It's also the way the NFL works. Look horrible against a weak Tampa team to start year. Go out and beat a really good Bengals team with Rush. Lose to a very bad Packers team one week, go on the road next week and beat a very good Vikings team 40-3. You can't bog down by comparing one week to another and common team results to try and gauge who is better.

A healthy team can easily keep up with Philly.v

Looking at the schedule nobody truly "crushed" the Texans this year. Miami pulled their starters up 30-0 on them and after that had to put them back in once Houston started scoring, but that game was really it.

Yeah they're not exactly peaking right now. Really bad against the Texans, struggled for 3 quarters with the Colts until they gave the game away with all those turnovers, bad first half against the Giants. That's the last 3 games.

They had their best game of the season a week before in the Vikings rout but lost to the Packers the week before that.

Maybe this just isn't that good of a team?

I have seen it many times. Another example that always comes to mind is the 2001 Big 12 championship game. Texas vs Colorado. Texas was way better. Easily score to go up 7-0. Going to score again but a pick 6 and it's 7-7 and game on. They never overcame it and lost. Like Dallas yesterday. Sports can be weird like that.

But we won in the end and moving on. All that matters. I don't know why people watch sports if they are even going to complain and moan at wins in the NFL. Hardest sport to win week to week.

And should've lost to the Colts but were the Cowboys

I figured you are an Eagles fan. Always crapping on Dallas and always sucking up to the Eagirls.
