Eagles/Dolphins discussing #12

We are not trading up. Book it.
We're trying to win a SB this year. Drafting a bunch of nobodies that will never see the field isn't the way to draft this year, IMO...

Hope we don't trade up by getting in a bidding war with the Eagles - I can see Parcells pulling that.

Well clearly, nobody other than Earl Thomas will ever see the field. Never mind that nonsense about this being the deepest 2-4 round draft in recent memory; we need to use all of our early picks to get the second best free safety in the draft class so we can win the Super Bowl!

What exactly is book it?

I remember in grade school there was some kind of Book It club and if you read a certain amount of books you got a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut.

Oh yeah, I remember that. That was awesome! :laugh2:

This draft is deep into the third round, they aren't nobodies. You also have to play with the cards you are dealt and we haven't even seen what they are yet.

You should post less . . .

Seriously . . .

In the top 12 spots there are 5-6 teams that want to trade down to where we are. I don't think we'd get into a bidding war.

Given how sissy the pass defense rules are anymore, I really don't like the idea of Safeties in round 1. I think converted CBs with coverage skills are more valuable there.

Trading away the future isn't smart either. We are not one player away. It's still a team sport. The 2nd and 3rd rounds are filled with players who should contribute this year. Sure we want to win a Super Bowl next year. But we want to win a Super Bowl every year. You still have to look at things long term.

Are you kidding me, we're doing tons!

We'll make multiple swaps to move down and corral about 10 players who will never touch the field in a meaningful way.

2 years in a row? Shucks!

I agree!

 Right on. I'm so glad many around here aren't really in the NFL. We'd be 'making moves' just because 'everyone else is' and the like. Be true to your draft prep and take advantage of opportunities as they present themselves. I'm gonna chalk up all this hand wringing to being anxious for football again.

I'm with you Hos. I don't want another 230lb safety. I don't care what his 40 time was.

If we trade up, I hope it's to secure the single best OL prospect we can.

Exactly what did we get out of trading down last year. Can you name one player that you are cetain who will be here three years from now?

The window is here as long as Romo is playing at an elevated level.

Do you know the expiration date on that guy?

Someone in this thread spoke about trading down for depth. That is what we did last year and came away with POTENTIAL.

I'm ready for a cpuple of real studs and the later round picks can sit onn someone else's bench.

It's personal preference, really. But I have been watching this team since day one, and 15 years without an appearance in the show is enough.

No guarantees with draft picks. But this team is a lot closer than we assume and depth doesn't fill our safety needs or an impact offensive player.

These talks of trading to specific spots for specific players before the draft is actually going on are just plain dumb. Now if they are talking about move-up possibilties just to measure the chances of moving into a slot IF that player falls there, then that makes sense. But pretty much every team does that before the draft.
