Before I get started, must say congratulations to the Cowboys ...I'm sure the victory was sweet!

Speaking of sweet ...the Eagles loss was bitter sweet. We're used to "bitter," but it was sweet to see the team clicking on all cylinders from both sides of the ball. Several mistakes in our secondary that hopefully, our GM will repair.

My head is still swirling from whether or not I should be upset about this loss. On one hand it is a loss to a division rival, but on the other hand, I think we won the battle but loss the war.

I don't feel too bad about the loss because we contended, and that's all I've ever said we'd do.

Looking at how the Giants, Skins, and Cowboys played, I can Honestly say that the NFC-East are truly going to give the NFL some great games this year!

I have to give credit where credit is due. The Eagles clearly showed they're a force to be reckoned with in the NFC East. They impressed me, even in defeat. Take it from somebody who knows, they should have won that game. My Cowboys tasted the same thing multiple times last year.

But even in defeat, the Eagles showed they're contenders for the NFC East.

Well see you soon (Quote from the movie Tombstone ...just before the gunfight at the OK Corale)

Tombstone is an awesome movie. I have the special edition DVD and it gets better every time I watch it.

Then why aren't you upset?:p: (backwards quote) The eagles did play really well until late in the game(Stallworth was a needed addition that looks to be working out great so far), it reminded me a little of our second game last season. The eagles need to quit getting so full of themselves when they're ahead.

In January no one is going to care how well the Eagles played. This game was a disaster for Philly as it revealed how misplaced the Eagles are.

They are a West Coast offense playing in a smash mouth division. When it came time to bury the Giants, the Eagles best physically-punish-you-while-we-grind-out-the-clock option was a scat-back.

How dare Andy Reid go for it late in the game when a punt forces the Giants to go a minimum of 80 and possibly 90+ yards? It's off-the-cuff stupid decisions like that that bury your team.

Run the damned football! Use your punter to create 20 yards of field position! Play smart! That was most disappointing to see. Tom Coughlin gets it and Andy Reid still doesn't. Hey, 3000 posts, I need to get a life.

I do think the Eagle's inability to grind out the clock made a big difference in the outcome yesterday. It is a connundrum Andy Reid has not solved. I think the loss of Kearse (if it happens) will be a serious blow as well.

Thank you for explaining. I watched the game but missed that play. I never did hear exactly what happened. That sounds just like something McNabb would do. Does anyone have a video?

May I have a shot at explaining what happened without the colorful adjectives ...

McNabb was over the Center at the line-o-scrimmage when suddenly, a Giants LB charged forward as though to indicate that he was about to encroach the Eagles OL. Looking at the situation Up close, there was no violation (even the announcers questioned the penalty that was called).

McNabb then hunched in a motioned that would indicate that he was about to receive the ball, when the official called a penalty. May I have a shot at explaining what happened without the colorful adjectives ...

Notes:

1) The Eagles OL did not move, nor did any of the Giant's DL.

2) Since the ball was not given to McNabb, how/why was a "false start" penalty given?

I think if he had to do it all over, he wouldn't have.

Anyone can false start - even a quarterback.

A "head bob" by a quarterback can be considered a false start.

McNabb's physical motion was much more considerable than a mere headbob.

It was a mistake on McNabb's part and a good call by the refs.

Despite the gaffe, I wouldn't place any blame for the loss on him. I place the blame on Andy Reid's ample backside.

Well that sums up the eagles philosophy in a nutshell ...... tell that to Emmitt Smith after his famous Giants game.

anyway the guy you are talking about was killed (2 years after the movie stopped talking about him) ..... and the Hero lived into his 80's

:lmao2:

They did have a guy that did some heroic things for them, broken ankle, very quick recovery, tried to help them win a Superbowl, only one problem

I think we all know what that problem is too:eek:

It is called simulating the start of the play - which in case you did not know the defense can do but the offense cannot!

The Eagles are typically always competitive especially at home and with reference to NFC East rivals.

The question is: are the Eagles a championship level team as espoused by some after game one or were they simply beating up on a poor Texans team?

I think the answer is that when it comes to fellow NFC East rivals, the Eagles are a substantial threat regardless of what caliber type of team they truly are in reality.

They choked at home after an outstanding 3 quarters of play but as Dallas learned after 1 quarter of solid play last week, 4 quarters of tough play are required in today's NFL.

I do think the Eagles are decent team but are not champoinship caliber as of yet. The perennial inability to consistently run the football will again, in my opinion, choke the Eagles hopes for post-season glory.

Further, the live by the blitz, die by the blitz notion will eventually deflate a defense that has a poor secondary that cannot cover in man situations.
Couple that with Kearse's injury and the missing "suspect" CB, this defense
will get repeated doses of the "Burress" bomb all season long.

The Eagles are a decent football team that some under-estimated to be sure but after two weeks of play, they have also been over-rated by others particularly after beating up on a poor Texans squad.

We shall see indeed on October 8, because they have San Fran and GB in between which may or may not be a true challenge of their status. Either way, choking against a fellow NFC opponent at home nonetheless, must be unsettling for an Eagles fan to be sure especially after dominating early game play.

One of my best westerns of all time.

However, still waiting for someone to tell me why when the oldest Earp was about to get his arm amputated, the youngest brother rushed out of the door in a rage (apparently because His brother was shot so severely), and ran over to the pool hall to shoot some pool (that's when took a slug in the back).

Why would be start playing a game of pool when his brother was shot, and he knew (orshould have known) that the Earps were being targeted that night?!

I never said I wasn't upset.

But that's not going to do any good. Besides, winning the battle means that we know that if the Eagles play consistently throughout all 4 quarters, they can control the Giants. The outcome is the war we loss.

Tombstone is a great movie. My favorite part is when they are all lined up for that gunfight and no one knows if its gonna go down or not and Doc Holliday looks around and see's the cowboy Ike and Ike is all worked up and kind of shaking and Doc just winks at him like cmon what you got, and that sets everything off, Ike grabs for his gun and Wyat goes Ohh ****. That was great!!

it wasn't Ike he winked at, it was the blonde kid who Doc said he had 2 guns for the both of him, an earlier scene when the old sheriff gets killed, and the kid says Doc is too drunk and he was seeing double, Ike was the big, ugly Cowboy

just for clarification ;)

I'm a McNabb hater with the best of them, but what did he do that you refer to as "JR high crap"? I didn't watch the whole game but I keep hearing people refer to it.

he was poking fun at Antonio Pierce calling the D plays, he faked snapped, and got flagged for a false-start

McNabb is a fool. He got mad that some LB would dear speak when McNabb speaks. SO he decided to mock him. What a joker.
