Eagles looking bad tonight.

LOL! Most of those posts are from the "Dez will be the 2nd best receiver of all time" thread. I wasn't praising the Eagles at all. I was simply saying that Dez was being severely over-hyped by our fans. I was arguing that Miles is the best receiver in the division, not Dez. I still think Nicks, Jackson and Maclin are better than Dez, as well. Like I said, because I don't drink the Cowboys kool-aid, I'm a troll?

I've also said before that I'm not a blind hater. I don't hate Vick, Eli, Grossman/Beck etc just because they're division rivals. I'm a football fan first and foremost. I love the game, high-school, college and the Pros. I can give credit when credit is due -- even if that's to a division rival. I understand that many of you guys aren't wired like that, I get it. I couldn't care less about the 31 other teams in the league.

By wise-up do you mean become less-critical of the organization that has won 1 playoff game in 16 years? I'm guessing you were old enough to appreciate the Cowboys of the mid-90s? Come January each year, when the Cowboys a sent packing from the playoffs (or don't even qualify), you probably sit back and think "you know what, it's okay, we've won 5 championships and we're America's Team." Well, I'm not complacent like that. I'm allowed to be critical.

I think I'm going to spend some time away from this board. I enjoy having discussions with fellow fans, but I don't need to be criticized for not being a Cowboy-homer.

Ciao for now.

good riddance

Their LBs and S look pitiful. Casey Matthews was awful. Nate Allen looks SLOW, and nearly recovered from his ACL. You can say it's only preseason, but those units of unknowns and nobodies have absolutely no history or track record that says they're performing any better when the regular season comes around. A rookie defensive coordinator with an offensive background who has no track record to show he has the ability to hide or cover their flaws, to boot.

The thing about last preseason was that come the regular season, we really didn't have any problems with scoring in the red zone. It was the local Dallas media rearing its ugly, stupid, attention seeking head again.

However, I do agree with people on Vick. I watched him a lot when I lived in Atlanta. He's a tantalizing QB that excites fans...but...he's injury prone and cannot consistently beat teams from the pocket. Not only does he make poor decisions under pressure and when he's forced to his right, he gets happy feet and struggles with the touch (or lack thereof) he puts on his passes.

And it happened last year after the G-Men game where their D-Coordinator started blitzing Vick with DB's and forcing him to the right. He then becomes a QB who can make some explosive plays, but is so flawed that he's very beatable.

 So because I'm not bagging a team for their PRE-SEASON performance, I'm an Eagles apologist? ...., and there's vanilla play-calling. I'll wait until the regular season before I "crown their ***" or call them the "all-hype" team. It's why we play the games.

OK, here goes

the Commanders are great
the eagles suck

you are an eagles fan on a cowboys message board

CLEAR??

now go away

Preseason or not, what people refuse to acknowledge is that Vick makes POOR decisions when feeling pressured. He is NOT a presnap read type of QB and his style of play is not conducive to long term success in the NFL.

Exactly.

Vick is terrible at presnap and he threw some really bonehead passes that he'll continue to throw when the regular season starts and they actually count. He's just not a very smart QB, IMO.

I could care less what people think you are or aren't. That is neither here nor there for me. But you REALLY think that Jackson is a better WR than Dez? Seriously?

Jackson?

I'd over look Nicks, I think he's gonna be a great one. I'll let the Maclin one go, though I don't believe I agree with it at all but I could see someone making a case for him over time, but DeSean Jackson?

lol. NO way.

second this
i cant wait for the eagles to sign vick long term

The thing people don't get about preseason is that having success doesn't mean you're going to have success in the regular season, but having a lot of failure among the first team is usually a bad sign, especially in the second or third game, and especially if it's during extended play.

Any time the 1st unit struggles even in pre season it is a bit worrisome. Winning or losing pre season means nothing but 1st unit playing poorly will raise some eyes.

Also, it did appear to me that the Eagles weren't playing vanilla on defense. They were going after Ben. Probably because of having a guy that had never called defense before in the NFL trying to get a little experience. To me, that blitz was really exposing those LBs and some of the secondary.
On Vick, his td to int ratio starting with that Giant game was 11/7. His season ratio is pretty impressive, but I expect we are going to see more of what teams were doing at the end of the year against him.

I agree. The Eagles were attacking and blitzing the Steelers repeatedly - and failing. That's not vanilla. The Eagles are breking in many new players, a new coach, and a new system. That's not vanilla. They got exposed.

It seems that the league got a good read on Vick last season and what he does and doesn't do well. And it looked like he couldn;t read what the Steelers were doing to him defensively. He had 3 picks but could have had two more.

No matter how you want to slice it, they got clobbered and have plenty to work on.

Ha! Like you're old enough to remember most of those fallow years. Somehow we'll have to find a way to live without your critical insight. /drippingsarcasm
