I feel like I have a unique perspective because I'm a huge Phillies fan and I'm not from Philadelphia. First off the Phillies deserve all the hell they will catch from the fans. I'm one of those fans on the forums giving them hell.

:
For the fifth time in six years they are about to narrowly miss the postseason. One championship in 125 years. The fans rightly have high expectations and quite frankly this year's team really pissed the bed. The team they have is pretty good but there is something missing. No major injuries, major rival in turmoil for half the season. There is no excuse for the **** they've pullled this year.
While Philadelphia sports fans can be over the top, I don't think there is a city in America that even comes to close to matching the passion or intensity for ALL the teams in their city. Dallas might be rabid about the Boys but for the most part a far lower percantage of the population is crushed if the other teams are bad or fail to perform. St. Louis is a great baseball town but is terrible for hockey and football.
Philadelphia probably has a larger contingent of abusive fans, no question. When you factor in the amazing lack of success Philadelphia teams have+years of poor management/ownership +amazing passion+consistent success of cities nearby and other rivals(Yankees, overall success of NFC East) and it's easy to see why Philadelphia fans are they way they are.
Personally I think the media grossly over exposes events in Philadelphia compared to similar events that were already presented earlier in this thread in towns like Cleveland or New York.
The bottom line is Philadelphia fans are very different from most cities' fans but I don't think non-Philadelphia fans consider the failures of those cities' teams enough when judging Philly fans. The only city that's comparable is Cleveland and that city has similar fans to Philadelphia.
I would think/hope for most of you that your teams have given you much more joy than the Philadelphia sports fans has seen. Ask yourself, how would you feel if you have seen virtually no success and nearly every team you hated was successful. It'd probably change your whole mindset if you're a truly dedicated fan.
