Eagles: Most Classless Fans?

I'm surprised it's even a question....

Didn't they also ride the Broncos WR after he lost his baby that week? The had a courtroom at the stadium FCOL.

I am pretty sure you are referring to Joe Jerivisious (sp) when he was with the Bucs. I vaguely remembering them mocking Joe during pregame warmups. As bad as Philly fans are to opposing teams, they eat their own more than any teams fans I know. You should read the Phillies forums now with their teams taking a dive. And if the Cowboys win Sunday Night, you can count on them hating McNabb worse than TO or Romo....

Did Oakland ever have a courtroom and jailhouse inside of the stadium? I rest my case.

Do you even have to ask?

I think it is pretty well documented that the Eagles fans are without doubt the most classless fans in the NFL.

Who else would boo a HoF class player while he is down on the ground with a career ending injury?

Who else would boo Santa Clause?

Who else would...Oh Hell...you get the idea!

Before answering, please remember: Michael Irvin.
Of course countless other incidents can be taken into account as well, I just want to know if there is any other NFL fan group with less tact than the Philly fan?

They definitely have the least amount of teeth...

Some of em' only got 1 toof.

They are nasty, vile creatures - no doubt.

Over on the Ranch Report MB, the Eagles fans that come over there are actually pretty cool. At worst, their smack talk is more tongue-in-cheek.

However-on the whole, I agree-I end up hating the Eagles even more so than the Skins, b/c of their mean, nasty, hateful, class-less fan base.

At the end of every year when they come up short, no matter how dissapointing our season is, I end up being at least somewhat satisfied.

Oakland Fans are classy like trailer trash. Philthy fans make Oakland fans look like royalty.

I feel like I have a unique perspective because I'm a huge Phillies fan and I'm not from Philadelphia. First off the Phillies deserve all the hell they will catch from the fans. I'm one of those fans on the forums giving them hell.:

For the fifth time in six years they are about to narrowly miss the postseason. One championship in 125 years. The fans rightly have high expectations and quite frankly this year's team really pissed the bed. The team they have is pretty good but there is something missing. No major injuries, major rival in turmoil for half the season. There is no excuse for the **** they've pullled this year.

While Philadelphia sports fans can be over the top, I don't think there is a city in America that even comes to close to matching the passion or intensity for ALL the teams in their city. Dallas might be rabid about the Boys but for the most part a far lower percantage of the population is crushed if the other teams are bad or fail to perform. St. Louis is a great baseball town but is terrible for hockey and football. Chicago Cubs fans might suffer a lot but at least Chicago fans have had the Bulls to fall back on. The Red Sox might have waited 86 years but they also got to root on one of the greatest dynasties in the Celtics.

Philadelphia probably has a larger contingent of abusive fans, no question. When you factor in the amazing lack of success Philadelphia teams have+years of poor management/ownership +amazing passion and loyalty to the teams in the city+consistent success of cities nearby and other rivals(Yankees, overall success of NFC East) and it's easy to see why Philadelphia fans are they way they are.

Personally I think the media grossly over exposes events in Philadelphia compared to similar events that were already presented earlier in this thread in towns like Cleveland or New York.

The bottom line is Philadelphia fans are very different from most cities' fans but I don't think non-Philadelphia fans consider the failures of those cities' teams enough when judging Philly fans. The only city that's comparable is Cleveland and that city has similar fans to Philadelphia. Like I said, I'm not from Philadelphia but cheering for the Phillies has made me at times an extremely irrational person. I'm a pretty normal dude but the consistent near misses every season just wear you down. I can't even imagine how much of a headcase I'd be if I liked the Eagles.

I would think/hope for most of you that your teams have given you much more joy than the Philadelphia sports fans has seen. Ask yourself, how would you feel if you have seen virtually no success and nearly every team you hated was successful. It'd probably change your whole mindset if you're a truly dedicated fan. I'm not saying some of the behavior should be condoned but I think a lot of people should actually walk a mile in someone else's shoes before rushing to judgment especially when you're much more blessed. Maybe I'm a little biased since I've shared part of that experience, but I actually like Eagles/Raiders fans. There's nothing fake about them and I respect that. It's entertaining and adds spirit to the game.

Honestly-my hatred over the Eagles is largely b/c since Reid took over as HC, they're 13-5 against us, including 6-3 at TX Stadium. We've also had some VERY gut-wrenching losses too(i.e. Getting annhilated in our season opener here in '00, getting annihilated on MNF here in '04, getting annihilated here on xmas day in '06, etc).

If anything-that's where all my bitterness extends from-twice a year you go into the game with lofty expectations, only to come out gut wrenched when all is said and done.

So yeah-the whole "their fans are POS" is really nothing more than an excuse when all is said and done, at least on my part. Classless or no, bottom line is that it hurts when you lose.

I go to the game every year dating back to the 80s at the vet, every year they do something even more disrespectful than the year prior.

Two words: Texas Rangers.

Short answer would be yes, but it goes far beyond that. To equate what the Eagles call "fans" to actual human beings is a travesty. There are 31 NFL teams with "fans". The Eagles organization is cursed with a contingent of mentally malnourished misfits who take up space so as to deny any normal human football fans space at a Philly game.

It is sad, but as the old saying goes: "Better them than us".

This right here should be everyone's signature for the week! Well said....... :star:

I will tell you this after countless hours of interviewing fans an players last year ( all Teams we played home and away ) The eagles fans do not have a very good reputation to say the least, I can go on and on but even the most ardent eagle's fans tell me that there brethren are just sick, take it for what its worth there easily the most hated fans and that comes from Miami to Dallas
