Kevin Kolb played 6 quarters of football and never threw a TD pass. The Eagles were in the Redzone 6 times and scored only 1 TD.

Yet we never heard anything about it.

Note, I am not changing my tune and saying the pre-season matters. I am simply wondering why once again the discussion is not balanced. Aaron Rodgers is being hyped as one of the top 5 QBs in the NFL despite the fact he has not won a post season game. Don't get me wrong, I think he is top 5.

I just wonder if the playing field is not supposed to be balanced and I never got the memo.

Why would you get the memo? You are not part of the secret society that makes these decisions.

Well I believe everyone already knew the Eagles offense would suck this season. Most people have them finishing last in the division. They have a new starting quarterback afterall.

Because man cannot be wholly clinical and suppress his own subjectivity. :)

I'm guessing this was talked about in Philly.

I like Rogers, but I think the Packers are easily the most overhyped team this season. For many; you would think they had already won the Superbowl and personally, I think their defense is weak. Without a great defense, there will be no Superbowl trophy in Green Bay.

Is that written on the walls in ESPN and NFL Network land.

At least where the Cowboys are concerned?????:laugh2:

I have the Giants finishing last. They offensive line is questionable just like everyone else in the NFCE, but their defense is questionable too.

The Eagles made a real effort this offseason to become more physical. That IMO gives them a leg up on the Giants. The Giants still don't have Plaxico which is what made their offense chug in the Superbowl year.

They still have Jacobs who strikes fear into no one these days. Bradshaw is far and away their best running back. They have talent at WR/TE, (Smith/Nicks/Boss) but no truly dominate receiving threat that is going to cause you to back off the line of scrimmage the way Plax did.

I think Kolb has talent. It might just take him a year or so to get settled. Of course Reid has to solidify that offensive line for him. There are no QBs that play great with a ****ty offensive line.

That's what I was thinking as well.

Likely didn't hear about it because nobody cares to hear about what goes on in Philly. I know I don't.

I can tell you right now that I think KC will suck but I didn't hear a word about the team potentially sucking and I lived 45 minutes from Arrowhead up until a month or so ago.

With as unbearable as some of the Dallas writers are, you couldn't pay me enough to read articles from teams I don't care about. It's brutal enough trying to sift through the trash that I am interested in.

I agree. Their defense got all of the lucky bounces last season. I don't think their defense is going to do as well this year.

Rodgers is not a top 5 QB until he corrects his problem of taking waaaay too many sacks. Those are drive-killers but statistically they don't "hurt" him since QBs aren't often judged on that stat. Romo avoids sacks as well as any QB in the league.

Somehow, like Hos pointed out, Romo needed to win a playoff game until he was considered "elite" but Rodgers hasn't been held to that standard.

Rodgers: 17-15 in the regular season, 0-1 in the playoffs.

Romo: 38-17 in the regular season, 1-3 in the playoffs.

No contest.

I heard plenty of discussion about Philly's struggles scoring TDs in preseason but since I'm the only member of the Zone that watches ESPN I'm probably the only one that saw it.

Who voted on this though? I don't like ostracism.

They didn't have to have a new QB though. The barfing dancer still could have been there. This is their choice of a time to rebuild or restructure.

Possibly. But not on ESPN or NFL Network.

Pretty glaring isn't it?

You don't need a great defense. Look at the Saints and Colts last season. Not great defenses. Good defenses. And Packers should have a good defense. Their defensive line is probably their weakest link.

Giants still have 3 very good receivers in Nix, Manningham and the other Steve Smith. Eli is getting these guys the ball. And they're still young. They'll be even better this season than they were last. Running game is suspect. Most of the team is suspect. But I still like them finishing atleast 8-8 in our division. Giants are still a threat. Eagles have too much inexperience at the quarterback spot for me to like them finishing any higher than last. Maybe they will. I think Kolb has the potential too but just like Dez you have to be realistic about his first time starting in the NFL.

Yes they have been whining about it here in print and on the radio. And to answer the question why have we not seen it on ESPN, we have. It's just been a very short story. A topic of possible problems with the Eagirls doesn't sell papers or bring national viewers.

We are "The Boys" and we should be used to the biased agenda and opinions constantly thrown our way. :banghead:

Games are won and lost on the line of scrimmage. Ask Tony Romo about his last game against the Vikings and then ask the Vikings QB Brett Favre about his last game against the Saints.

Manningham isn't a good receiver. The only way he gets grouped with Nicks and Smith is because they are on the same team.

Many rookie QBs win during their first season in the NFL. Just look at Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, and Mark Sanchez. Kevin Kolb isn't a rookie and has played a regular season games.

Last season Kolb started two games. Those where the only regular season games he has ever started. During the two games he was 55 of 85 (64.7%) for 718 yards, 4TDs and 3INTs. Thats a 92.18 rating. Not to shabby for being the only two games he has ever started.

Don't let homerism blind you to the fact that Kolb has some skill as a QB.
