Eagles open to trading Murray

If I allowed Chip to sign a RB to that contract I'd be looking to trade him too.

You're the only one making this argument.

One top five season does not make you a top 5 back especially over players who have had multiple top 5 seasons.

By using your same logic, Matthew Stafford has been a top 5 QB since 2011. He is top 5 in yards and touchdowns. He has more yards and touchdowns than other perceived better players because he had an inflated season and those guys missed some time.

Regardless, he is a top 5 player because that top 5 season was so good it puts him ahead of guys that were better every other season in that span, right?

If Stafford is top 5 in yards and TDs then he is a top 5 QB. You proved my argument. percy left it extremely vague as to the criteria. What makes TSmith, TFred or ZMartin top 5? But you accept that ranking blindly because you are a Cowboy fan.

Murray is top 5 in yards, salary, AV points, 900+ yards seasons in the last 5 years and 1000+ yard seasons in the last 5 years.

You don't really believe that do you? Stafford a top 5 QB. Homer Lions fans wouldn't even say that.

Passing yards and TDs are two of the big ones for QBs.

If someone asks a vague question like is Stafford a top 5 QB and someone else points out that he is top 5 in passing yards and top 5 in TDs, then you can't say he is wrong. You might have different criteria but the other guy has those facts to stand on.

Can you name 5 QBs with more passing yards in the last 5 years?

Who are the top 5 power hitters in baseball can be a very different question than who are the top 5 for most HRs in the last 5 years.

The Cowboys made a hard tough deiscion not to resign Murry last year. It was the right choice. No way you bring that sellout back. As for as I'm concerned DMac is twice the pro as Murray.

I looked at this guy zeke, and he is too small, he gets big holes to run thru, and i dont think his success in college
will be the same in NFL.
The speed will taper off as he gains weight like they all do, and then he will be avg.
he may have good vision, know where to run, but that is hard to tell.

I would rather have a bigger stronger back,David Wilson who the cards got last year is the type we need.

I think Dallas FO is mainly thinking QB and Defense, and really like someone else said we need a good RB to pair with Mcf
and a good # 2 WR, and then just have a awesome offense, and get some FA Defensive guys for immediate impact.

I don't know where you're pulling this "too small" crap from. He's 6'0", 225 lbs. and even at 225 he ran a sub-4.5 40 at the combine. He's the same height as Demarco Murray, 8 lbs. heavier than Demarco, and they tan identical 40 times at their respective combines.

The consensus of all scouting-types is that Elliot is the ONLY RB in this year's draft who is a sure 1st-round draft choice.

People say RBs are the easiest to find but if you want a good one, you have to take him early just like everyone else.

Of the Top 20 RBs over the last 10 years 17 were drafted in rounds 1-3. Eleven were 1st rounders.

This myth about RBs is strange. They get the ball 30 times a game and a team that wants a strong running game like DAL wants to skimp.

I think the FO got themselves into that 'skimping' dilemma by poor cap management throughout many years of overspending. They are now backed into an economizing corner and are attempting to extricate themselves from being in that position. Stephen certainly appears to have persuaded Jerry to economize at present to allow healthier cap management and IMHO, it's about time.

They certainly appear to be committing to significantly more healthy spending habits and becoming somewhat more capable of competing with the rest of the league's frontrunners in terms of their spending cap prosperity. Understand that I'm not making excuses for their past deficiencies so much as stating what I believe to be the present handicap they are facing and attempting to rebound from. Hopefully, the 'skimping' won't last forever.

So Stafford is top 5 and Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning is not?

Murray was a top 5 back when he left here, he was not nowhere near top 5 over his 5 year career though regardless of the stats. One insane season inflated his overall numbers greatly.

TO_crying.jpg

As much as I love T.O. he whined and cried his way out
of Baltimore, His big mouth got him kicked out of San Fran
and Philly and the whole Dallas cutting him situation was a
joke. This however is not about Terrell Owens, This is about
Demarco Murray. Who I now feel has turned into T.O. in the
sense he's gotten what he wants money wise, However is
unhappy where he is? Not saying he will turn into a Obliterator
or cancer in the locker room. I am saying? he should not be able
to cry his way out!! You wanted it, You got it let em rot for the next
few years and see how that works out for you

the end

Nice dodge.
Murray had 1,000 yards from scrimmage as an Eagle in 2015. When 20 guys do something every year, you don't use that thing as a standard for greatness.

Each year, there are about 20 QB with 16+ touchdown passes. You might as well try to argue that Cutler and Fitzpatrick are top 5 quarterbacks because they've done it 4 times in the last 5 seasons.

Can you name 5 QBs with more passing yards in the last 5 years?
Not going to try. Because that isn't the best way to determine or judge who are the top 5 QB's in this league. Like I said, ask a Lion fan. Bet you have to search a long time before one puts him up there.

First question, at the top of the list...does he compliment a zone blocking scheme or a power blocking scheme?

Actually, he ran behind both at tOSU. Early on, Urban Meyer used more of a power scheme (as he did at Utah and Florida), but went to more of a zone blocking scheme under (current UH head coach, then OSU OC) Tom Herman.

No thanks, RB is a young man's position, we need to look forward not backwards.

the move (an over-the-top offer to Murray), which was intended to cripple our chances at a playoff run, while effective, did more harm to Philadelphia's chances for years to come. and Chip left Philly with the mess. stupid Philly.

I hate to be the guy that stirs this pot; but I just saw a tweet doing a Google search on the Cowboys that said a Murray trade for a sixth or seventh round pick is "imminent"; and the Cowboys, Jaguars, and Raiders are the teams trying to get him.

Dallas doesn't have a seventh round pick this year; but have a lot of sixths if they get the compensatory picks expected. So could they trade a sixth; take on Murray's $7 million base salary, and attempt to recapture 2014? (Just a note- cutting Brandon Carr opens $6.8 million; potentially paying for Murray??)

Personally, I'd rather the Cowboys draft a running back; but the tweet supposedly came from two credible sources (which I cannot find).

It would be moronic to trade for that contract. PHI is on the hook for another 9m guaranteed.

Let them cut him or walk away.

I agree, but can't the Cowboys get away with just paying Murray big bucks this year; then tear up that ridiculous Philly contract and give him one that makes more sense? I think there might be an NFLPA rule against this; but if Murray loves Dallas that much he could be willing to renegotiate.

The 9m guaranteed includes his 7m salary this year and 2m of his 2017 7.5m base salary.

Another 3.5m guarantees next March 10th.

So if they cut him after one year that would be 9m for one year.
If they keep him next year it would be 15m for 2 years.

If he is willing to negotiate then just make PHI cut him.
