Eagles "Going Hard" after Larry Fitzgerald

According to a story on GCobb.com, the Eagles are "going after Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald pretty hard". We have been hearing rumors about this situation for a few weeks, so this is just more confirmation of the Eagles' interest. The Cardinals are reluctant to keep the star receiver because of how much salary cap space he will take up. His current contract pays him 14.5 million next season and over 17 million in 2009. Fitzgerald is not a free agent, so if the Eagles want him, he would have to be acquired in a trade.

Fitzgerald would look really good in an Eagles uniform, and would make the offense potent. He has had over 100 catches twice in his career. Fitzgerald had made recent comments that he might sign a long term deal with the Cardinals that would reduce his salary cap number, so if that happens all possible deals are off. I have no idea what it would take to get him, maybe a first round pick and a couple of solid young players, but whatever the price, he would be worth it. If he is made available, there will be a slew of teams making offers which will drive up the price. Of all the players rumored to be headed to Philly, he is the most exciting because of his ability and because he is only 24. Trades in the NFL are rare, however, so this is definitely a remote possibility.

I have made my opinions of the Eagles reluctance to spend money known recently, and this is another situation where they would have to go out of character to get what they want. For all of the players linked to the Eagles this offseason (Asante Samuel, Randy Moss, Chad Johnson), it would require the front office to step up and change their philosophy. It would have to mirror what the Patriots did last off-season, where they opened up the wallet and spent a ton of money to get Tom Brady the weapons he needed on offense. If the Eagles are dedicated to making one last run with Donovan McNabb, they owe it to themselves to pursue every avenue for available players, regardless of their price tag.

Fitz would make the Eagles a potent force next year, assuming Donovan is back and not injured and the line can protect him.

Fitz is a great WR.

I think he'd look better in a Cowboys uniform. Everyone does.

It's already starting. We better make an NE type slash in the off season cause the thought of another 13-3 #1 seed team is gonna be a fairytale in our division next year without making major moves cause Philly and Washington(I know it's a long shot) are doing their best and the Giants are the champs until proven otherwise.

If Philly does that..........

our draft becomes

Pick 22 CB

Pick 28 WR

and a RB in the third

We would prolly even have to consider trading up maybe for Cromartie.

Philly is over the hill, the Skins are in disarray again and hopefully the Giants will have a huge Super Bowl hangover. I like our chances next year.

That usually only happens to the losers. The last team I can think that had a losing season after winning the SB is the Bucs some years back.

When did I say player x would look good for the eagles? If you are going to quote me fine but don't put words in my mouth. I post news about the NFC East and if you can't handle the fact that other teams make moves in the offseason then go lock yourself in a room untill september because it does tend to happen every now and then. I am done speaking to you because 1 I will not defend myself and 2 I don't feel you could give me an intelligent conversation.
Have a good one though and god bless.

Larry Fitzgerald and Braylon Edwards are going to be the two best wide recievers in football for a long time. We got to get him if hes available. Even if hes counting 14 this year and 17 next, remember the days of the cap being 60 mil for a 52 man roster, in todays game its up to 104 million I beileve. If we got the triplets under that cap we can do the same here.

Kinda reads like you're saying right here in the initial post, as quoted below.

So Fitz will cost nearly $32 million for two seasons? Wow, I like him and would love to have him but that is way too costly, too bad.
