So Fitz will cost nearly $32 million for two seasons? Wow, I like him and would love to have him but that is way too costly, too bad.

I'm sure who ever tries to get him will look at redoing the contract by extending the length of the contract

His current contract pays him 14.5 million next season and over 17 million in 2009.

is that his salary or cap number? either way, i cannot imagine him being one of the highest, if not the highest, paid player in the league, as a wide receiver on his rookie contract. that number cannot be right.

Yeah, probably. However, if he doesn't want to renegotiate, then he becomes a very expensive acquisition.

If he only has 2 years left on it I think he like many other players would jump at an extended contract. It is about security not to mention a chance at another hefty signing bonus

Looking back, the Eagles really squander a chance to win the Super Bowl. If you're that close, you do what's necessary to put you over the top and win Super Bowls.
Rebuilding aint easy in the NFL once your window has closed.

It's already starting. We better make an NE type slash in the off season cause the thought of another 13-3 #1 seed team is gonna be a fairytale in our division next year without making major moves cause Philly and Washington(I know it's a long shot) are doing their best and the Giants are the champs until proven otherwise.

Very true!

Gotta love this thread based off speculation from a former player's website.

Arizona has said repeatedly that Fitz isn't going anywhere, and I believe them.

That usually only happens to the losers. The last team I can think that had a losing season after winning the SB is the Bucs some years back.

The Steelers after 2005 and I believe the Patriots after 2001 and Ravens after 2000 had a let down the next season after winning the superbowl.

True, but a lot of the Steelers problems in '05 had to do with Roethlisberger being hurt.

They also have a Lombardi trophy and playoff wins. Two things we haven't had in over a decade. The only serious improvements they need to make is in the secondary. They cant expect what happened in the SB to happen every week just cause it worked on the Pats.

True because the nearly made the playoffs after starting so poorly I believe.

that's not the point, the point is, the Giants could very well fall off the map next year, unless their O can figure out how to score points more effectively

Ds can only take you so far, the O has to pick up the slack sometimes too

They won 6 of their last 8. They would've made the playoffs if they were the NFC. Figures.

The only "needs" they have on O is maybe another receiver. They got a great running game, one of the best TE's in the league, a play making receiver in Plaxico who on one foot had a thousand yard/12 TD season and a pretty good O-line. Steve Smith seems to be something in the making. It's really up to Eli and his ability to learn to stop forcing things.

that, and he needs to continue developing as a Qb, if he can

their O looked so anemic because they dumbed down the O and simplified it so Eli could run it, it was pretty basic stuff, it was dare I say, conservative

True, but you cant expect Eli to throw the ball over 30 times without throwing INT after INT. He almost lost the game 4 times on that game winning drive in the SB. He became anxious when the D knew he was gonna throw and chunked a few balls up for grabs and fumbled twice. That being said, I think the coordinators and QB coach did a good job this post season of convincing him to take his check downs and stop forcing things. If he can continue that along with play action to assist him with the big plays, it helps his confidence as he moves towards that 25-30 passes for 260 YPG weekly performance.

Wow, these Eagles are amazing. According to the media they are going to get Asante Samuel, Donte Stallworth, and now Larry Fitzgerald.

When did I say player x would look good for the eagles? If you are going to quote me fine but don't put words in my mouth. I post news about the NFC East and if you can't handle the fact that other teams make moves in the offseason then go lock yourself in a room untill september because it does tend to happen every now and then. I am done speaking to you because 1 I will not defend myself and 2 I don't feel you could give me an intelligent conversation.
Have a good one though and god bless.

See LINK.

I really don't see Fitz going anywhere, at all, cause I just don't see anyone eating 14-17 million dollars in cap space (Be that the team who nabs him or the Cards for moving him).

I don't understand why people dump on McNabb, the guy is still an elite QB, just look at his record... If you give him Larry Fitzgerald it's going to be problems, similar to what Romo and T.O. bring every Sunday.
