Eagles' Shawn Andrews' ankle worse than expected? Out for year? *Merge*

is it the dreaded HIGH ANKLE SPRAIN?
Since injury was listed as 'ankle sprain' and not 'high ankle sprain', the former probably is true. But badly sprained ankles can require as much healing time as broken ankles. He'll be OK, without surgery, next year.

This is where getting a guard like Max Jean-Giles last year really pays off. He was arguably the top guard last year, but fell to the 3rd round I think. I thought it was a steal, now it seems like a god send.

Their lack of skill players has been off set with great line play.

The offense could have major issues.

Actually he was a 4th rounder. He slipped cause he was carrying much too much weight. I remember being upset that the Cowboys didn't grab him with our 4th round pick. Think we drafted Skyler Green instead & we all know what a great pick he was.

I think Andrews is pulling some reporters chain. Andy said he is day to day. Putting a post with a title like this is just stupid until it is official.

They were trying Giles at tackle which is very dumb. Andrews at the least is going to be hobbling for a while.

As stupid as thinking that Reid knows more about Andrews' injury than he does?

Wish philly wouldn't get all dinged up... especially their best players. If they lose they have this excuse to fall back on. Always better beating a team at full strength.. oh well.

Of course, the obligatory pansy post that follows any reported injury to a rival.

Reid absolutely knows as much about Andrews` injury as Andrews does. Stupid is assuming that Reid will be open and honest about it.

Bingo. They also have a first round talent sitting waiting for his opportunity to start at tackle. I'm surprised how little some know about their opponent on this board. There's only one guy on that roster that they can't replace and that's Westbrook. They are thin at safety as well, but their offensive line remains the strength of their team with or without Andrews.

Surprising how little some know about the Eagles' supposed 'depth'.

If you're referring to Justice at LT, think again.

The guy got a chance to play on Monday and looked completely lost - as did Jean-Gilles.

The supposed 'depth' for the Eagles was nowhere to be found.

For someone who "knows" so much about our opponents you would think you would know Giles is not even the backup he is a slob who has fallen on their depth chart. Their top backup to Andrews is Scott Young

That sucks. This guy was a damn good player for them last year.

this is great.for us.i dont understand why people get upset at other teams injuries.i mean he didnt die,he sprained his ankle,he is still rollin in dough.i hope half the saints offense gets hurt.if it helps us then so be it,part of the game.now if he had something major thats a new ballgame.but a busted ankle?,seeya

from what I am reading...I think Andrews will play this year but he is at serious risk for long-term damage to his ankle. Looks like it is a degenerative issue. Here is what Dr. Art Bartolozzi (former eagles orthopedist) had to say:

" Its not hard to infer what Andrews might be talking about. Bartolozzi said that an X-ray of Andrews ankle, 3 years after his break, probably showed "spreading of the ankle joint" and perhaps accelerated arthritis and/or calcifications. "

" That doesnt mean Andrews career is necessarily at risk, but it could mean he'll have to play with his ankle tighly wrapped and there could be serious implications down the road. Bartolozzi said arthritis in a sprained joint would make the healing time much harder to predict"

Injuries are part of the game and the proficiency of your training staff is vital to a teams success. When I see a team that has a rash of player injuries that doesn't make me want to say that they are having bad luck. It makes me say that their training staff is not very good.

I remember prior to parcells coming here we would see tons of injuries especially amongst our WR every single year. Parcells comes in puts an emphasis on the offseason conditioning program and all of a sudden the injuries decrease.

Coincidence? i dont think so.

Our guys are working hard and are exposed to injuries like everyone else. When our team is not getting them and another team is thats a tribute to our training staff and not time to feel sorry for them.

You're right. Without Andrews that team is finished. 0-8 in the division. Thanks for informing me that they played terribly in their first practice game. I didn't watch it.

I'm not going to argue about a team I just don't care about.

Fine.

Don't don't go spouting off inaccurate 'facts' about them either, OK?

I think we only play 6 division games this year.

Or is it a leap year?

I can never remember. :D
