If only they would have won the Doug Free sweepstakes, too. They were in on that.

I get that there are zone coverage guys that can't play man, but never should there be a man coverage guy that can't play zone.

It seems like all the Cowboys drafted for years were man guys that couldn't play zone or at least they couldn't play it well.

Believe it or not I still think Nnamdi is a stud.
He's better than AOA...that's for sure...but I digress...

For a bargain, I'd say, go get em Jerry!
You say he is a stud and yet you compared him to AOA? AOA is a below average player, not much more than a 3rd stringer. :laugh2:

Its a mindset and recognition ability. Man guys tend to follow receivers to deep into their zones because of the man ability they are used to and that causes the whole zone scheme to breakdown because people are out of position. My HS DB coach would say, "Playing zone you sit in your spot until the Ball is in the air", I didn't play DB but it made sense, chasing a guy around a zone opens holes in a zone.

That eagles defense, and team in general, went down the drain when DC Jimmy Johnson died.

HE was the reason behind them winning so much (minus superbowls and conf champs).

Andy is a good coach, but it was Johnson was the best coach on that team.

I agree. Throw in they also lost their coach on the field in Brian Dawkins.

I bet he ends up with the Patriots and playing lockdown coverage

Yea, he probably signs with the Pats on a dirt cheap contract and hoodie has him back in lock-down form again.

Yes. We dodged that bullet. But we will make up for it by resigning Spencer to a mega deal and then watch his play recede back towards mediocrity.

That's the spirit. ;)

There's a lot to be said for a player fitting, or not fitting, a scheme.

Agreed.

That's not how it works at all. They aren't mutually exclusive but the skillets are very different. Just like corner back and safety are very different but everyone seems to think a halfway decent corner can be an all pro safety.

he didn't even LOOK like a CB physically last year: it was SO strange guys....his legs were very slim and spindly and his body was top heavy. I mean, he looked like an overhyped college kid playing the position: strangest thing I've ever seen. I don't think he'll "return to form" as someone suggested in this thread because I think he's peaked. Man, what a colossal BUST this guy was for them.....:laugh2:

Further proof you don't want to give a massive contract to a guy who has passed his prime. They aren't the same guy as when they were young.

Age-related research shows dbs start declining pretty darn early...28-30.

Darrel Green played at a high level into his 40s. Maybe he is the exception that proves the rule.
