Now that we're hearing some seemingly-actual-news and not just conjecture on this (i.e., some specifics on what's been offered), I'm coming to the conclusion that, honestly, I'm not sure I want a player whose character is such that he's going to fail to live up to the contract he signed... assuming, that is, he just shows up to show up to get a paycheck, and doesn't go out there in 2018 just like he has in the past.

Strike that.

Last night I think I wrote that I'd be okay with sending SEA a 2019 3rd and a 2020 5th. But that was the fantasy league me, not the real world me.

Real world me is persuaded that sometimes allowing yourself to be tantalized by the fantasy in the short-term of being with that pretty, curvaceous woman is a really, really bad idea for the long-term... and the writing is not on the wall but written in big sharpie black on her forehead.

Don't be biased towards only 1 side of a contract. Like it or not this is a business so don't hate the businesses for doing whats in the best interest of the business.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported earlier Wednesday that the Dallas Cowboys have increased their trade offer for Thomas to a second-round pick over the past week but that the Seahawks are seeking more than that in return.

We'd then get him for half a season instead of just one season and then pay him. That seems even less wise than renting for one seasons.

I agree but let say Seahawks get off on the wrong foot and obvious friction between ET and coaching staff, I can see them trying to savage sometime. Of course if you're the Cowboys they can forget 2nd or 3rd. More likely conditional 4th IMO ........

Seahawks FS Earl Thomas has ended his holdout and will report to the team on Wednesday.

The Cowboys tried hard to acquire Thomas, offering a third-rounder before upping it to a second-rounder, but the Seahawks were'n't having it. Thomas expressed his feeling of disrespect from the Seahawks on Instagram on Wednesday but will otherwise report and play out the final year of his deal. We think it's still possible a trade is worked out at some point this season.

Please. Lets not talk about character and NFL contracts. Teams cut players and terminate contracts all the damn time. But when a player does it he's a bad guy?

Disagree, thats why contracts are the way they are and the NFL players union agrees with this. High dollar players get up front cash/signing bonus BECAUSE the team can cut the player at any time. That is the agreement. The other side of the agreement is that a player gets fined if he does not show up to play under that contract. In other words the teams do live up to their side and the players do not if they hold out. That is the agreement! That is the deal they sign.

So don't feed us this other crap like we are 13 year olds!

Belly-aching about the terms of a contract you yourself signed is indicative of someone who is entirely likely to become a cancer on the roster... hence my analogy.

Mind you, as stated above, I can stomach his holding out to try to cause leverage.

But if he doesn't come back and perform with the best possible attitude in SEA for whatever time he has left there, then yes, that's an indication that he could be prettier today, and increasingly uglier in the long term.

They have massive holes everywhere.

They don't want to extend Thomas.

They're about to pay him $600K this week, though he won't play. Then each week after that for a player not in their plans.

He's going to sulk and complain.

The media is going to ask about it constantly.

While the offers lessen each week that passes.
