Earl Thomas will report to Seattle today

I don't see his play falling off because of attitude, skill maybe because age does that. Look at it this way, a great year nets Thomas a big FA contract and he can demand #1 S money if he has that type of year. A 2016 or 2017 year and he would be hard pressed to get #1 S money. He has every reason to perform to the best of his ability in 2018 for Seattle. Remember, Early Bird was holding out for MORE money. I don't see Early dogging it in 2018, that costs him money. Bottom line, both Seattle and ET benefit fro him having a great year. Just my opinion. The opposite opinion is valid too.

When I ask myself what I would do and I have a family, I put my ego on the back burner and play to my highest ability for 1 more big contract for the family. Most real men would.

I don’t think he would ever intentionally dog it... I think ET has taken this treatment from the FO personally.

His play may be rusty simply bc he missed TC and now he is the only leftover member of the LOB— so he may be more exposed with lesser talent around him.

Regardless— no matter what his play is on the field— it’s clear he resents Seattle and his heart has already left that franchise. It will be interesting to see if Seattle rides this out the whole year— or if this refusal to trade him for a 2 was a final bluff to see if Jerry is desperate enough to throw a 1 at them.

ET's problem is that there is no Legion of Boom now. The talent around him, including Cam Chancellor is gone. He wants a HUGE FA contract and NEEDS to put up great numbers (tackles, ints) to get it. ET has been just a S for the past two years. Broken leg in 2016 and very average year last year. If I'm ET I'm wondering how I'm going the be able to put up #1 S numbers now. That's why he held out for more money and an extension this year.

If I'm Seattle, I'm betting ET will play his best to get that big FA contract in 2019 and I go after a top S in the draft. They aren't in panic mode, definitely in rebuild mode

No one knows what Seattle will do. MO is they will get an ET who is motivated to get that last big contract in 2019. If I'm the team, I let it play and draft a S with one of my first two picks in 2019. As fans we want ET here. Got it. JMO, we will have that shot in 2019 FA but ET better play better S in 2018 than he did in 2016 or 2017 if he wants a big long term contract. Seattle management isn't dumb. ET is 30 years old and was a very average safety in 2017 without Chancellor. They didn't see his age or play as worthy of a big long term contract. Guess what other management group thinks that way. Ours!
