I studied the game footage and projected measurables for these players.

1: Jermod McCoy, Tennessee
Most skilled CB.
Great playing the ball.
Has not played in over a year due to ACL surgery.
Probably not the fastest of this group of CBs.
4.52 forty (est. from NFLDraftBuzz)
Adequate size (6-0, 195)

2: Colton Hood, Tennessee
Ultra-competitive.
Great playing the ball in the air.
Good speed but not a burner.
Played at 3 different colleges.
Was a backup to Travis Hunter in 2024.
Transferred to Tennessee in 2025.
Had some missed tackles.

3: Mansoor Delane, LSU
Sub 6'
Lean (maybe sub-190)
Not consistent when playing the ball.
Not a burner.
Short Arms?
Sorry, but I got Kaiir Elam vibes on some of his snaps.
i.e. Appeared to have the WR covered but just couldn't prevent the catch.

4: Brandon Cisse, South Carolina
6-0
4.35 forty (est. from NFLDraftBuzz)
Very long arms
Highlights are great but overall looks raw.
Injury issues.
There is something awkward about him at times.
Gives me a Byron Jones vibe of better athlete than football player.
Gives WRs space then closes once the ball is in the air.
Whereas guys like McCoy just seem to stay glued to the WR.

Players that I wouldn't draft in the 1st round:
Avieon Terrell, Clemson
5-11, 180
4.3x forty (est. from NFLDraftBuzz)
Too small for me with regards to the 1st round.

D'Angelo Ponds, Indiana
Small. 5-9, 170
Great competitor but I can't draft a 5-9 CB in the 1st round.
Not in the modern era where big WRs are the norm.
He has a Jourdan Lewis type tenacity, but Lewis is over 5-10 and 190.

Davison Igbinosun
Tall, fast, competitive with long arms.
6-2, 192, 4.3x forty (est. from NFLDraftBuzz)
Issues vs go routes. Doesn't always turn his head
Seems to lose track of the ball on occasion.
Questionable ball skills.
Seems more comfortable facing the line (off-man or zone).
Might have some issues vs quick change of direction WRs.
Likely to blow up the combine but not a 1st rounder to me.
I have not spent as much time watching this player as the others on my list.

TBD:
Chris Johnson, San Diego State
Keionte Scott, Miami (Fla.)
Julian Neal, Arkansas
Jadon Canady, Oregon

Delane is becoming a player that some love why others hate. In my opinion, he isn't a consideration at 12, more with that 20th selection. McCoy is clearly the top corner, but has those injury concerns.

McCoy is unlikely to blow the combine up even if he participates. Might hurt him as far as pushing into the top 10. However he is just what you want as a #1 CB.

Hood is interesting and I prefer him to Delane

I do like Delane as a later 1st round pick. He doesnt have a ton of slot reps, but I think he has the skill set to play the slot. I think he could be Scandrick like as a player that can play boundary or slot as a reasonable level

I am 100% opposed to drafting guys in round 1 coming off of a major injury. That has never worked out for us. Based on what I am seeing in this draft class, we are better off addressing CB in free agency.

I agree with you
We just can't take that chance. We have way too much riding on getting our first two round picks right

Isn't Hood more of a press only corner?

I one that has worked out has been Houston's Stingley. Perhaps McCoy sat out not to hurt his draft stock as he had a great prior season.

I agree, adding a veteran corner, especially a nickel makes a ton of sense.
I agree but notice that last two first round picks.
Both pics were used to replace long-term starters in Tyrone Smith and Zack Martin.
This makes me think at least one or both of the first round picks will be used to replace Diggs or Parsons from a positional standpoint

Stingley was a more accomplished prospect. He made first team all-america as a freshman but did have injury issues his soph and junior year. But, he never took a full year off. The last time we drafted a nicked up CB in round one, we got stuck with Mo Claiborne. So, unless McCoy just crushes the offseason, we can't afford to assume he's the next Stingley.

Feel like Hood is being a little overrated...12 in DJs mock is madness.

Everything I have read and seen so far has seemed like he is more of a traits guy that is raw and is going to require some polish and technique work.

Agree, he is more of a top 40 pick, then top 15.
