Let's say Vegas makes the line high to get a 50-50 split from the general public. The sharps will jump in low, forcing Vegas to lower the line. In the end, Vegas has to set it's line where it thinks the end result will be unless it is willing to bet against the sharps, which doesn't happen very often.HanD;3598670 said:the point is the odd makers don't see this as a dallas win. all they care about is getting bets even on both teams so that they can make money in the middle. it's about them setting a number they think will get equal bets...not about who they think is going to win...
In the end yes, but opening lines are the odds makers prediction. Their best initial effort to get even betting.Skinsmaniac;3598678 said:Let's say Vegas makes the line high to get a 50-50 split from the general public.
