I've been saying this for years about Tyrone....He makes 9 million a year. He is probably our #4 DE (#3 if Randy doesn't play). Some others: Hurns (6 million for a #4 receiver) and Fleming (3.7 million for a backup tackle). Almost 20 mil a year wasted right there.
Hurns is definitely an obvious cut. Fleming is a necessity because of Tyron inevitably missing 2-3 games per season (or you can obviously bring back Chaz Green after the Broncos cut him).

I can understand Fleming. He started in NE but he didn't impress me a whole lot. I felt Dallas could have gotten him cheaper. I feel bad for Allen because of his injury but Dallas has a deep WR room. Amari, Gallup, and Cobb are the only guarantees. Figure one of the young guys could do what Hurns does a lot cheaper. A big IF but if Randy gets reinstated what is the point of keeping Tyrone around for 9 million a year?
DE: Tank, Quinn, Gregory
DT: Collins, Woods, Hill
Throw in Dorance Armstrong too!

I have it similar to the OP:

- 2 QB’s with an extra O-linemen
- Gregory probably starts suspended allowing an extra D-line or DB short-term.

I'm putting Weber on the PS and only carrying 2 QB.

Go long on DL and DB.

Only Zeke, Pollard, and Olawale on the 53. Pollard and Olawale can get through a game if Zeke goes down. If Zeke is hurt and can't go for a week, then we bring up a PS guy to start.

Probably Jackson, but Weber, Jackson, and Chunn fight it out for the PS if no one else picks them up on final cuts.

6 weber
17 Johnson

7th round and UDFAs are PS. If nobody picks you up before the 7th, they're not dying to put you on their 53 after you've missed their camp.

I bet DE Jackson makes the 53. At least the first week.

I also think Crawford is done.

Not enough pass rush from DT to dump Crawford yet. Hill, Crawford, and Collins make a 3 man rotation, and that's counting on the rookie to be useful his first season. Next year, Collins leaves.

Crawford may end up like Carr and finish out his contract, everyone griping about the money all the while.

Carr did ultimately take a pay cut.

I think Weber doesn't make the team....and while I wish White and Rush the best I don't think are capable NFL QBs even in a back up role. We have to get better at evaluating QBs or go with experienced vets.

Pretty sure Rush and White temp back-ups. Other words, if Dak has to miss more than 3-4 games, I'm guessing we'll see a vet signed off the street especially if either struggle.

I would prefer a vet QB be in camp learning our plays and developing some type of chemistry with WRs and players on the team. Bringing a QB in midseason has never worked for us in recent history.

Nice list, but IMHO they will only carry 2 qbs. I'd add Sau-Filo at OG
I'm not sure about Gregory making it back yet, he probably on the "does not count" list, at least to start the season anyway. If he is, we get to add someone else instead. Who do you like? Noah Brown, Taco Jelks, someone else?

And I gotta say that I love our depth on the offensive and defensive lines!

No but an elite organization like the Eagles and Howie Roseman would find a way to get Crawford to play this year for a much reduced contract based on his production. Cut him and bring him back for a lot less money. That's what they did this spring with Timmy Jernigan (DL) and Stefen Wisniewski (OL).

I see a lot wrong with this course of action.

Not saying I agree with it but it's the way they've handled the back-up QB position recently.......see Brandon Weeden/2015. Many didn't like Weeden in training camp, yet he not only made started the season as Romo back-up, but it took THREE regular season starts for them figure out he wasn't the answer.

Fleming's cap hit is only $2.3M, and then his contract has $0 dead cap next season.

I wasn't happy initially when I heard we resigned him, then the contract details came out and that's good value. He's really not much worse than La'el, who is the 2nd worst value on our team.

Who the heck is LP "Ladensaur?"

Sounds like something from Jurassic Park.

It was a camel-like dinosaur the cave men used as a beast of burden to transport goods like square wheels, clubs, and loin cloths to market

IMO Weber is a project at best which is why he lasted to the 7th. If he is our insurance for if someone goes down we are in trouble.

Cowboys supposedly had a 4th round grade on Mike Weber, and what seems the nature of RBs in the NFL draft, is that they do tend to slip down in rounds.

Hell, I'm sure if it was a draft do-over again, Denver's explosive Phillip Lindsay not only would have been drafted (instead of undrafted) but he would have been drafted much higher
in the early rounds this time around.

The profile with Weber is his traits are not wow-stand out flashy. He's not overly explosive or elusive, but it's more so solid than it is spectacular. He's a one cut runner with good in-between tackles plus vision, hard yardage grinder and adequate receiving/blocking skills.

I've envisioned him as a possible Aaron Jones 2.0 version, but to give you some idea similarities in type and style, if you recall DeMarco Murray, he also wasn't an explosive runner, he wasn't overly elusive, and shifty, he was another one-cut runner type who had plus vision, and also blitz-blocked well and could catch the dump offs.
He wasn't a wow-guy either but he has solid traits that made him a productive player.

And frankly I see no problem with having that type of backup RB on our depth chart.

From the OP, this is my differences.

QB, only keep 2, Rush is probably out
RB & TE, agree
OL, keep 9, add Su'a-filo
WR, add Brown over Wilson, keep 6, but if they keep 7, add Johnson or Devin Smith or Wilson. Hurns or Austin could be a cut to save $$$. Then add Wilson. No way they keep 2 rookies if only keeping 6 WR's.

DL, agree, unless Gregory is in the mix, then who goes, unless they keep 11 for a short time. Hyder could be gone if he is not over his injuries, or Crawford cut to save some $$$
LB. agree
DB's, add Frazier, but a few players could push for spots overall. At CB, Olumba and Goodwin, at S Thompson.

I seen Weber ranked as high as a mid 3rd round pick a month before the draft. Most had him as a 4th as you posted. If they did select him in the 4th I would have been fine with that.

A good point but I wouldn’t want to see them repeating past mistakes.

If neither of the young guys shows anything in camp, I’m looking for alternatives prior to the start of the season
