I'm betting against 4.28, but I still would love for us to draft McNeal as a project. I know he had a rough year, but I love his skillset as a QB. Besides the speed, he's got a quick and strong arm... He's not a running back who throws it, but a real dropback passer. Give him a year to practice under good coaching, and someone might have something...

I don't think I want BP to draft him, because 1: He doesnt fit BP's system and 2: He wont be ready for at least 1-2 years.

However, he would make our O-Line look a hell of alot better. People compare him to Vick, however he is completely different. Vick is a RB in a QB's body, where as McNeal, like you said, looks to pass first. Vick also isnt near as good at eluding the pass rush as McNeal, Reggie wont get sacked much in this league.

Last year, McNeal attended some combine for college juniors and was officially clocked at sub 4.3. The guy has Deion speed, he is that fast. However, he doesnt have the lateral speed of guys like Vince Young and therefore takes more hard hits. However, if he gets in a straight line, there isnt a defender in the country who can catch him. I'll see if i can find the video, but in 2004 against KSU, McNeal was running and a K-State DB was waiting for the angle on him, and McNeal was so fast the DB never got a chance to get an angle and McNeal just blew by him.

Most 40 times are done hand-held. Case in point is the players at VA Tech, Miami and FSU. Normally you hear these gaudy 40 times that will make your jaw drop, but when they are timed electronically, it will be totally different.

Take McNeals 40 time and have it done electronically (which is will be at the combine) and add anywhere from .15-.18 to the 40 time.

Also things to consider are like wind, track/field conditions, turf/grass, shoes and even altitude which can add as much as .25 to the 40 time.

McNeal's time was without a doubt done hand-held which is very subjective to say the least. The addition of .15-.18 is only on average, so you can add much more to that in alot of cases.

To get what I'm saying. Jerk out a stopwatch and start the stopwatch and stop it as quickly as you possibly can. Now just imagine starting and stopping a watch for a runner down to the exact tenth and hundreth he starts his dash and stops it at.

I'm not an A&M fan, but I heard that there were a lot of fans who were unhappy with how he coached and handled Reggie McNeal. I can tell you that he always impressed me, and from a distance, it didn't look like he was allowed to do what he does best.

I wouldn't have a problem in the world with Dallas drafting him. He's got all kinds of speed and athletic ability. I even like how he has thrown the football.

Along these same lines, Brad Smith from Mizzu is another guy who kind of interests me. He's got a ton of ability too. He might be able to switch positions and make a roster.

I agree w/ this statement. Mainly because he'll be an UDFA, sitting on a practice squad come 9/06.

I was going to respond to this, then I noticed your sig and realized your feeble mind wouldnt grasp it anyway.

Care to place a wager on that? I'm not saying Reggie will be a 1st round pick or anything, but he will be drafted.

You are correct, he was not allowed to play his way. Reggie is at his best when he can drop back, look for his first and second read, and if they arent there tuck it and use his speed to his advantage. However, the coaches gave him as many as 4 and 5 reads per play, a very large number for any QB who can get the kind of yardage with their legs that he can. He was also used to run a lot of option and spread offensive players, where his speed and athleticism was limited by the lateral movement.

Reggie also throws a beautiful deep ball. He is the opposite of Vince Young in that regard, who can throw the shirt pass well but struggles with the deep ball.

I agree to an extent, however after wathcing McNeal for 4 years I'll be shocked if he isnt clocked at at least 3.35 or less.
