We are practicing at Texas Stadium, I mean AT&T Stadium this week. We are doing this so that we can pipe in imitation crowd noise. Hopefully it should help with the noise at Arrowhead. But I do thiink, with the Chiefs defense and the crowd noise this could easily be a trap game.

Show of hands if you believe that your defense should be able to handle Kansas City?

With little to an ineffective Jamaal Charles and a passing game that has really has no vertical dimension, what is the worry...

OK, but first tell me how you know Charles will be ineffective and that the Chiefs will have no vertical game?

Bottom line is that both teams have improved their rosters since last year's disappointing seasons and both teams have much to prove. I can't imagine that after the annual beat-downs this Cowboys team has taken that they are overlooking anybody. An inferior opponent? Really? We enjoy a lot more media hype but that's about it. I'd gauge that Kansas City is more on our level than we are on San Francisco's,,,

I don't believe Seattle was more talented then we were. A better team, yes. They played together and they didn't turn the ball over as much as we did but we could have beaten them. They did two things well. They stopped the run and they ran the ball themselves very effectively. Those are want to type disciplines. They didn't completely dominate us. The score was 13-7 at half and we were in the game. In fact, had we not played piss poor on ST, we would have lead at half 7-3 (fumble by Felix on the opening kick-off and a blocked punt returned for 7 in the fist 5 minutes of the game). At half, Lynch had only run for 22 yards. He ran for 100 in the second half. We were not blown out of that game, we quit in that game. We were physically challanged, playing in a very hostile environment and we just gave up. Too many mistakes, costly penalties, poor ST plays, 3 TO to zero for Seattle and we pretty much served them up the perfect environment to win. Wilson only threw for 151 yards in that game. That game changed on the Tate play. Once that happened, we checked out and pretty much laid down.

That is exactly the type of environment that will exist for us in KC. If we lose focus and believe we are better then we are, the same thing will happen. We could easily have beaten Seattle last year had we been ready to play. That's the truth.

You left out all the dropped passes we had in the game

Completely agree
Watching that game, I kept thinking of the Tyson quote "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth"

here is a thought.

what if this is echoes from San Francisco 2011 and not Seattle 2012?

Alex smith, New Head Coach, Home Opener, Veteran Defensive Coordinator who runs a versatile 34, Good running game....

Hence, see my sig.....

Simple matter of the fact, Seattle came out and punched us in the face, something Dallas wasn't ready for. Sure, we seemed to be the better team at that point in the season but as history has shown, physical teams give Dallas problems.

As for KC, they have a physical defense too, but last year they were on the field a whole lot due to an inept offense. Things may be different this season with an offense that can sustain longer drives.

I think our team is more talented and should win, but until Dallas can beat the teams on the road that they should win, I am still skeptical.

It could be that but that year, we lost to the Giants in the opener and we came to San Francisco ready to play football. We, essentially, were the Sea Hawks and they were the Cowboys that year. Now, if you scroll a head just a little, we went on to beat a not so very good Washington team in Dallas 18-16 and then ran into a Detroit team that had no business winning but did. We lost to NE, beat a terrible Rams team and got pasted 34-7 by Philly.

I hope that this week in KC is a completely different start all together.

well sure, but the similarities are actually closer to the sf game.

New head coach, home opener, Alex smith is the qb, supposedly short quick passing game with a power running attack.

Cowboys fans filled that stadium that day and were twice as loud as the niners fans.

I mean yes we lost to the jets before the niners and last year beat the giants, but the team we are playing and the environment will be more similar to the sf game.

I believe that Jaamal has a quad injury but is listed to play and Alex Smith has never been a good vertical passer from my recollection during his 49ner days. Harbaugh's micro-management and Vernon Davis really did wonders for the kid...

Charles practiced and is fine. He will play. Smith has played in a downfield passing attack. In fact, if you look back at his numbers from 2011 and 2012, they are actually pretty good. With Avery and McCluster, I would not be so sure of Smith's inability to go long on us. Also consider, that offense is predicated on throwing on the run and lots of YAC. It doesn't always have to be a 70 yard bomb. It can also be a 70 yard slant, as evidenced by Cruz.

a lot of chiefs fans are pretty upset that the ticket prices have skyrocketed since it's a Dallas game, most of the available tix being bought up by cowboys fans

not only that but since when does our fanbase not travel well? I'd bet dollars to donuts a good 40% of that crowd will be cowboys fans

I remember the game last time, there were a BUNCH of Cowboys fans. Plus, I lived in KC -- there are just a bunch in the area. Right down 35.
