I am okay with retaining McCarthy. I would have preferred Harbaugh or even Belichick, but I have to believe Jerry made calls and decided those two would not fit in Dallas with him. I doubt Harbaugh or Belichick would give up any control to Jerry. So Jerry decided to stay with MM where Jerry gets to play GM, and more importantly, is the man with the microphone.
But I will not be okay with retaining Quinn. We have a lot of talent on defense. Too much be be as abysmal as they looked against a team like Green Bay. The defense is soft. They gave up against Green Bay like they did against Buffalo, and SF. They are incapable of getting a stop when it is really needed. Remember Arizona when Dallas closed the gap to 5 points? The Cardinals got the ball back and on the first series, they hit a long pass to an uncovered receiver. That gave them momentum and they wound up scoring to ice the game. That was a red flag. Detroit moving down the field with less than 2 minutes after McCarthy made a bonehead decision to throw a pass instead of run the clock, to easily score the potentially game tying TD was another red flag. Buffalo running for a million yards was another red flag. and Green Bay was one red flag too many.
There are things we do not know. For example, whose decision was it to waive Cox, Harper and Evans and go light on LBs? Whose decision was it to trade up to draft Eric Scott, then keep him on the roster the entire year, never once being activated, while they lost needed players because they had to open roster spots? If that was Quinn then there is more than ample reason to fire him.
