Something interesting I haven't seen discussed here.
Who wanted Mazi? Who decided it was okay to have a bunch of injury prone LBs? Who didn't realize the size difference everywhere would bite them in the butt?
Did they all just get on DQ's bandwagon and go full steam ahead? According to the reports, Stephen rides DQ's jock. Did he put all of this in Jerry's head and look at it as a Coach instead of a GM?
Or did DQ just make his request list, do his thing, and handed a bad build by some bad GMs?
Luck matters of course, but we had some amateur mistakes that would have been avoided by better organizations.
Good questions. I'm sure Quinn has input, as he went to Sam Williams pro-day, coached him up there and per the twitter beat writers the Cowboys were high on him pre-draft. That had to have heavy pushing from quinn. Even wanting to take him in round 2, when he was a tweener that could of slipped to the 3rd. Had to have him type of prospect.
But I'd assume Quinn also tells the FO that he needs better DT's and the scouts and McClay have complied info on prospects that could fit the scheme and improve it.
And on draft day, the tidbits we heard was the staff stuck between an OL or DL in round 1. So, if McClay may of told Jerry that Bergeron(SP?) was the go to guy maybe they could of passed on a guy like Mazi?
Or would Quinn spoken up then?
