Ed Werder on judging the Cowboys

must be a rams fan

but in reality he’s part of the machine that’s brought us wall to wall cowboy coverage.

so spare us the pearl clutching after the monster you helped create acts like a monster

The yearly “you’re not allowed to be an excited Cowboys fan because last year they didn’t win the Super Bowl.” chatter.

Heaven forbid we cheer for the Cowboys, everyone says the same thing.

According to media heads, every fanbase is allowed to say they got Super Bowl on their mind; immediately after we say it, they all say the same thing… “they haven’t won since 1995… blah blah blah”

Whatever Werder!
Just wait. If they do ever win one, the narrative will then shift to ... "Pssh, ANYONE can win a Super Bowl! Look at Trent Dilfer! If they were any good .. they need to win at least two!"

I remember a time that the Cowboys were judged by winning the Super Bowl but that doesn’t mean I can’t get excited about the improvement of our team from last year.

Live in the moment Ed. Enjoy the moment, don’t ruin it. It’s been a positive offseason for us, let’s just stay in that vibe, no need to be negative.

THIS.

It's like we are not allowed to be optimistic and have some hope for a fun season.

I believe most fans are optimistic about the performance of the defense against a team that they practiced against last year, which, by all accounts
had their butts handled by.

But I guess it's fine to mention the Cowboys for clicks.

In the world of social media and coverage saturation this is the reality. No one will remember or “judge” the cowboys on the joint practice (coincidentally the title of Cheech and Chong’s unreleased biopic), but in the here and now this the reality of media.

I have win the Division on my mind.

There are steps and a road map to putting yourself into a position of winning a SB. If you don't accomplish those, their is no point talking about a SB.

he is not wrong

but that was before three things: the social media and internet
and
Our current GM

Now we who used to feast now beg for crumbs

Breaking News: If he said I'm pleased with the cowboys, fans would be like, I LOVE ED!

Werder is not wrong. Its so bad thats its come to this point where fans are looking for any signs of hope and scrutinizing training camp scrimmages. Thats why i'm not on the board much this time of year.

Its all 'seat of the pants' conjecture until the games count.

yeah it's pretty funny how we're all bandwagonners and at the same time delusional homers.

I don’t know why folks are taking umbrage with what Werder is saying?

He’s right.

I think it’s actually more schadenfreude towards the new/social media reporters and the content they put out.

Personally, I’m tired of these goofs making 20 minute videos with clickbait titles about how the Cowboys supposedly found another “late round gem” or calling some FA pickup a “blockbuster” roster move, or in this latest case how we supposedly dominated the Rams in a non-tackle practice.
Outstanding post.
The "goofs" are over the top in their assessments.
Ed, though, can come across like an angry old man.

I mean, I get it, but what’s wrong with saying we want the SB? We don’t need to win the division to win it all
