You guys jump on and off players and teams way too easily. It is one game vs one really pathetic team. Bad players have a way of making average players look great.

It was also pretty clear that Shanny completely out coached Kiffin and it wasnt even close.

Just watch the guy and stop worrying about who was covering him. He runs extremely good routes for a rookie, some of the best I have seen from someone his age. The key with him will be how he handles press coverage, which I gather will be a similar issue with DS Jax.

he returns kicks and he is smart.

i like how on the reverse, instead of taking a loss, like the raiders did, he simply chunked the ball about 20 yards down field and out of bounds.

If i recall correctly, the Dallas scouts were pretty high on Royal before the draft. I think we saw some of why that was tonight.

I added Royal as well to my squad. I got Fitzgerald, Jennings, Crayton and Royal. Not too bad.

He didn't have a banner college career, but most reports at the Senior Bowl had him head and shoulders above the rest of the receivers there.

I thought he looked really good in preseason and it's obvious that Denver is looking for ways to make him a bigger part of the offense.

I don't think it's a one game fluke. He'll have the ups and downs of any rookie, but I think he looks like a pretty promising WR.

looks like the best WR in the draft against Hall tonight, wow. I don't know if he's that good, or Hall is that bad.

Royal certainly looks like a good prospect, they made a good pick.

But yea, Hall is THAT bad. Alot of us have been trying to tell people this for 3yrs...he SUX

Whats sad is there were tons of people in this forum who wanted us to give up a 1st rd pick (and in soem cases more) to get this garbage

It's also clear the Falcons robbed the Raiders in the Hall trade, and that Hall flat out sux.

Their secondary is a train wreck...there are people in this forum that argued it was better than ours too

I think a lot of the argument was actually about Asante sucking/not sucking more than Hall. We'll get to check Asante out up close next monday.

I never seen him play at VT, so I don't know about his hands, route running, etc. But during the 40 yd dash at this years combine he ran effortlessly and posted awesome times. When other wr/db's were huffin & puffin, stumblin accross the tape; he just was as smooth as silk. Totally under control of his speed.
I remember being very impressed when seeing this.

Lets see how Royal does next week against San Diego secondary.

Well Delhomme picked them apart without Steve Smith and in San Diego.

Denver seems to have some nice weapons on offense, and they have that OL that can take a defenders knee out at any moment.

As many of my fellow Hokie alum can attest to, Royal was SEVERELY handicapped at VT by having to play with an absolute underwear stain of a QB in Sean Glennon. Even though Royal and Glennon were teammates for 8 years (4 in HS, 4 at VT), Royal still managed to excel. If Royal had played with a legitimate, or heck, even a mediocre QB in college, then he would have been a top10-top20 pick no question.

He looks great but I wonder how good he'll look against someone who can jam him. Better not let him get by them though without help over the top.

I was off the mark with Felix Jones it appears, but Royal is definately one guy I was praying the Boys would take. He has GREAT work ethic, runs outstanding routes, tough and very good speed. He is Steve Smith without the little man syndrome.

I added Royal tonight. Now my WR crew is as follows

TO
Ward
Evans
Curry
Royal

I added Royal too :D and I also have Curry. I'm thinking of dumping Curry though. It's bad enough that he has an inexperienced qb throwing him the ball, but factor in that OL and I think he'll have pretty poor numbers.

He's the real deal. Shannahan said he had "star talent" by the first week in training camp. I like listening to the Denny Green when he's doing the radio broadcast because he doesn't dumb it down for the listener and gives almost a GM evaluation of what's going on on the field, and he was really doing a great job breaking down how Denver had Royal running unconventional routes that require nothing short of exceptional quickness to be effective.

The Raiders secondary is probably the only good unit they have, and wait until he has Brandon Marshall lined up across from him getting double coverage.

Yep. That's what stood out the most to me last night from his performance. He's super quick. Funny, I watch damn near every VT game every year, and I can't for the life of me remember him being THAT quick. He was terrific last night. If the Cowboys still (Glenn) had a guy like that...wow.
