We have heard some 30 visitor names over the last few weeks. Surprisingly, not 1 top Edge player, a couple of 3rd rounders, but many on day 3:

Sam Williams/Mjai Sanders-both are considered 3rd rd prospects at this juncture.

Isaiah Thomas, Michael Clemons, David Anenih, Luiji Vilain-these are all firm day 3 prospects and would be 5th rd candidates.

The Cowboys might consider them 2nd round picks because they pick so late in the draft. Kind of like picking Tristian Hill in the second.

I agree…but it may not be because they are late in the round. Perhaps it’s just because Williams is really good. A 12 sack SEC pass rusher.
I love Williams. He must have some really bad off field issues. I think he had a sexual assault charge a few years ago. Dane Brugler dropped him big time because of it.

I think they're looking for a role player rather than a full time starter at DE. Someone to come in and rush the passer and then go back to the sidelines.

Obviously this is silly, but that's our team

Quinn did that in Seattle. Took an undersized pass rush specialist in the 2nd….Bruce Irvin…it worked out pretty well. Remember nickel is 55-60% of snaps these days.

Tells me there's a good chance they may double-dip the position......hoping to find a 2022 starter and developmental type to replace DLaw in couple of years.

It was sexual battery and charges were dropped. One concern is didn't start playing football until his senior year in high school.

That’s a positive. Dominant SEC pass rusher with only 4-5 years of football experience. Raw piece of clay for Quinn to mold. Doesn’t have a ton of bad habits already engrained.

I'm leaning toward pulling the trigger on Williams with 56. Whether he's a 2nd or 3rd is splitting hairs a bit. Get my OL with 24, Williams -56 and WR-88.

A no-star recruit out of high school, Williams received attention from several high-profile college programs, but he had less than a year of football experience and didn’t have the grades to qualify. He signed with Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville, where he continued learning the game as a freshman, posting 53 tackles, 11.0 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in 2017. Williams was named a junior college All-American as a sophomore with 75 tackles, 28.5 tackles for loss, 17.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles in 2018

WEAKNESSES: Plays tall with inconsistent balance at contact and in space ... his poor block leverage leaves him controlled on the edges ... his run-defending instincts are still in the development phase ... shows hints of stiffness at the top of his rush ... needs to do a better job setting up his rush and formulating a plan ... tape is riddled with undisciplined mistakes, including nine penalties as a senior (illegal use of hands, offsides, facemask, multiple roughing the passers, etc.) ... inconsistent finisher who leaves tackle/sack production on the field ... his off-field will require extensive vetting after he was suspended from the Ole Miss program (July 2020) following an arrest on felony sexual battery (chargers were later dropped).

It’s very odd to see so many late edge rushers but not a single top guy brought in. With the volume of names, you know they are looking at the position, but why so many developmental types?

Double-dip .......one the 5th rounder?????

In fact, with three 5th rounders, I could see them double-dipping a couple of positions ( DE and OL )

:hammer:

When you’re picking at the end of the round, your picks are all practically a round later.

If the Cowboys or anyone else think they can sit and wait for Sam Williams at the end of the third round, they’re in for a disappointment.

That’s exactly where I’m at. But it’s still a toss up for me in round 3 between WR and TE if Jelani Woods is still available at 88.

100% agree

I think you’re discounting how much they’ve already visited with Sam Williams outside of the building.

Same here depending on which WRs are left vs Woods.......
