Exactly. The Cowboys offered their 2nd round pick. The Seahawks simply said no. But that's what happened.

And I wonder if the Seahawks now wish they had done that deal, saving millions in cap space and having a guaranteed 2nd round pick instead of losing the cap money and now hoping you get any sort of a comp pick at all when Thomas leaves?

I don't think being stubborn was worth it myself.

I get why having Sean Payton here would be great. What I don’t get is why anyone would honestly believe that would happen NOW.

I understand about the opt out part of his current deal in NO, but coaches’ opt outs usually have small details in them that don’t make the simple headlines. Having an opt out in an NFL coaching contract is usually a lot more complex than the coaching just saying “bye”. Payton’s contract more than likely contains specific language about the conditions for an opt out we are not privy to.

With Brees at the end of his career and with a real chance to make one more great run at a Lombardi, why would Payton leave NO now? Again, would love to see it happen, but at the moment, I find it very hard to believe that at this late stage in the changing coaches game that it would happen.

Because when Breese goes they go back to being New Orleans.

Meanwhile Dallas through all of their mediocrity is still a top 3 most valuable franchise in the world and easily #1 in the United States.

It’s the highest profile job there is for a coach and winning here is better then winning anywhere else.

On the contrary, New Orleans has more or less wasted a HoF QB’s career. I wouldn’t mind if he took the same approach to Dallas.

This is the best answer so far, thank you. Like the Lakers when Luke Walton took them, they might be a mess but they’re still the Lakers.

Man, this is a juicy rumor! That's it though. Silly season talk. Remember the liquor store clerk?... lol.

But, ya never know. Stranger things have happened. So, what the hell, let's play along.

The greatest scenario was for the Payton, Brees and the Saints to win the SUPER BOWL.
Brees would ride off into the sunset and Payton would get to finally coach the team that
Bill Parcells referred to as "the Big Room", I believe.

Well, they're just going to reset that dream again in 2019. However, I think the window that
was once wide open for two years is now closing.

Watching Coach Payton create packages for Taysom Hill, tells me he could really take
advantage of Dak's ability to run and build plays based on that talent. Just an observation.

Plus, imagine how Payton would take advantage of Amari Cooper's route skills along with
Gallup. Personally, I'd run a ton of crossing routes with those two. Not to mention that
he'd probably sign some scrub wr from NO that will become the best "4th wr" ever in Dallas... lol.

Zeke has shown some skill as a receiver. Maybe not as dangerous as Kamara, but he does
have an 80 yard reception, so he can score from anywhere.

Man, it would've been great if it happened this season... lol

? We've only 1 playoff loss in the last 2 years, albeit a close one to the very Sean Payton.

And a 40-7 loss where you got embarrassed. Look, I get it.

We lost to you twice too, why do you get we'd want Garret to stay...? What do you get?

I get that you're sore about being embarrassed by Payton and the Saints, it's understandable.

I like how it played out, made us look good. Probably shouldn't have even been there in the first place.

Probably not, but they certainly didn't look that way when they had that playoff game. They gave a good accounting of themselves.

Only Sean's second NFCCG in 12 years, could have missed it too if Jeffery held onto the ball. Brees probably has the lowest number of championship game appearances for any potential or HoF QB. You'd be replacing Garrett with another Garrett who got a little farther that one time because he had a healthy HoF QB his whole career (And a bounty scandal...). 5 of his 12 seasons with a HoF QB he went 8-8 or 7-9. And you'd give draft picks for this guy because you expect him to be markedly better than he was in NO?
