Clarification on the Eli Debacle.

CHARGERS WON MANNING DEAL

By ROB LONGLEY

In the days leading to the 2004 NFL draft, the name Manning was mud in San Diego.

Out of that mud the Chargers found gold, however. In dealing Eli Manning to the New York Giants after the much touted QB said he wouldn't play in California, the Chargers landed three Pro Bowlers.

From an NFL-high nine players named to the AFC squad this past week, quarterback Philip Rivers, linebacker Shawne Merriman and kicker Nate Kaeding all came west from the deal that made Manning happy.

The Chargers front office is still laughing.

It's hard to believe Amani Toomer made that much difference to their offense, but they went south when he went down.

It didnt make that much difference, Manning is just erratic as hell...

amazing how poorly he throws the ball with even a minute amount of pressure on him...losing Toomer didnt cause Manning to suddenly start throwing balls into the ground, behind people, out of bounds, over people's heads ete etc

and the guy is awful at feeling pressure, even when it comes from his front side...he reminds me some of Jim Everett at the end of his career

I actually began watching this game & was quite excited when the Giants scored right away. From that point on though, it was a different (offensive)team that came out onto the field.

Eli a bust? Heck yeah. By the end of the 1st quarter, he already had that 'deer in the headlights' look. Their defense was doing an admirable job keeping N.O. out of sync in the beginning, but as the game wore on with no help from Eli and company, they were just too darned tired to be efficient.

Alot of this loss is on Coughlin though. He should know how to deal with the kid when he starts going into his shell. All they really had to do to get a win was keep pounding the ball with Tiki and Jacobs. That would've kept Bree's et al off the field, rested their defense, and taken a huge amount of pressure off a young qb that was very close to peeing his pants.

At the very least, he should've had the team doctor perform the Heimlich manuever on Eli early in the game.

Must me that 'choke in the big game' gene that runs in the family.

You just now figuring this out?

shEli's been a bust since day one.

and why would Dallas "look forward" to NOT playing him.
He sucks.
We should love every second we have the fortune to play against him.

I wonder if Eli becoming a disaster has anything to do with
Acorsi retiring.:laugh2: Actually i think this trade set the Giants
back, for all we know,It also has sent Tiki packing a little earlier.

Bingo! If there is going to be a prize given away for the winner of this thread then you just won.

Is it too early to break out the annointing oil and dub Eli Manning a bust?

He's 5-8 in December. What's he gonna do next year without Tiki Barber?

Can Dallas look forward to an Eli-free season next year?

Eli will be a Gint next year, which is is a good thing.

Eli stinks. I wish him a long career in NY.

what sucks is, NFLNetwork is advertising the Giant/Skin game for next week, and in it, they say it's time for Manning to take another step forward

a step forward would be nice
