I don't know a thing about their FO but if they make him the highest paid player they are STUPID.

He was the highest when he signed 5 years ago, but a lot has changed.

He should get Top 10 money but not top dollar.

But if NY wants to over pay and get saddled with a huge deal who am I to argue?

I do too!

This is his last good contract and it is strictly a business ploy. He wants as much as he can get, but he knows he won't, and he knows he ain't worth it.

Well the giants are in a tough spot, if they dont satisfy manning who do they get to replace him???????
Answer is nobody, good QB's are hard to find.

A team has to draft and develop a qb to replace a top QB , otherwise they are better off just keeping the guy they have.
That is why dallas signed Romo to big deal, they had no choice.
Better to sign a Romo or Manning than wind up with a Manziel?

NE is looking for a replacement for brady, maybe Garapolo is the guy but maybe not. but at least they are drafting QB's and seeing if
they can hit on one.

another thing is say what you want about manning, and maybe his good years are behind him,
but who in the NFC has more SB rings than him ??

Answer ....... nobody, not even rodgers

Brees , Rodgers,Wilson all have one and thats it ! none of the other NFC qb's have even one.

Brady has what 4?
Flacco -1
Ben-2 ?
Peyton -1

and thats it for current qb's so only brady has more SB rings than Eli.

If you look at his playoff record of wins and losses, it is probably better than any other QB, might be undefeated lol.

He'll probably get it. As much as people in this forum bag on him, he is the two time Superbowl winning face of that franchise. 34 used to be old, but for pocket passing QBs it is now the Prime of their career. They can count on him for four more seasons.

He may receive it. As usual, salary negotiations are elementary economics of supply and demand. The Giants have two choices:
  • Don't pay, lose Manning to free agency, and start the process of replacing him with another franchise quarterback--which is no easy task since franchise quarterbacks do not grow on trees (e.g. Lack of supply). Or
  • Pay him through the nose in order to retain his services (e.g. High demand)
Personally I'm like Michael Winicki and hope Manning's successful. Franchise quarterbacks eat huge chunks of team's salary caps. The more Manning restricts the Giants' salary cap flexibility, the better.

DAL didn't re-sign Romo because they had no choice.

They realized he was top QB and wanted to keep him.

They don't waste draft picks on QBs because they have one already that isn't going anywhere.

Poor reporting.
I'm not a big Eli fan and think he's an interception machine and has a lucky charm, but he never said this.

you hit the nail on the head

Manning, nor his agent are going to say they want to be the highest paid player in the NFL but the nature of the situation says he probably will be. If they made an opening offer, you can be sure that offer makes him the highest paid player.

and I'll add, this is great for us. the giants being clear of his salary worry more then his game worries me.
