I think Zeke may be open to a salary cut/extension much like D Law just did. If he hits the open market, he isn’t getting what he is making now anyway— so does he want to make less and stay in Big D, or make less somewhere else?

I think he wants to stay with the team, share the load, and finish out his career with Dak and wearing that star on his helmet

Pollard is the key player/ playmaker on this offense. Every time he touched the ball tonight he averaged 7.5 yards. That's invaluable.

Embellishments aside, he had a good game. You stated, "Every time", which is not true.

Zeke taking 5 million a year to be LeGarrette Blount basically... I wouldn't be against it. But we've got to stop throwing to him unless he's literally uncovered. He's not going to make anyone miss in the receiving game.

Pollard being the lead back for only 6M/year is kind of not likely to happen either.

Exactly. Pollard is basically Aaron Jones from Green Bay. Dual threat and lightning fast at both.
Sadly Zeke was a receiving threat out the backfield during his rookie contract. He used to be a monster on those screens.

Shouldn't this place Zeke amongst the great teammates with Leadership.......like SLee and JWitt enamored on this board now?

That was very mature of Zeke to say that. I believe the team is at its best when both Zeke and Pollard are getting touches. It's up to the coaches to figure out the best mix.

Exactly. Feed and speed, lighting and thunder. These 2 feed off of eachother. And the relationship is awesome. Zeke will be back next year with a new deal and pollard will most likely get franchised
I think this ....is well said...and not said or thought of enough.

I truly believe our running game wouldn't be the same without both. Pollard doesn't have to get bashed constantly, Zeke doesn't have to get winded on big plays. Running game flourishes all game long, all season long.

This is a special duo....let's keep them both.

This RB "problem" we are going to have this offseason is so hard to figure out. On one hand, it makes no sense to keep Zeke at his salary or to overpay for Pollard. But, on the other hand Zeke has turned into a great leader for this team and though his production doesn't match his pay, the guy is still a very good RB. Pollard may or may not costs us a ton, lot of quality FA RB this year and the word is the draft is loaded with RBs. But Pollard is our most explosive player and one of the most explosive players in the league this year. Losing him would definitely hurt our offense. Best case scenario for me is to redo Zeke's contract & get Pollard on a short deal or even the tag all the while drafting a quality back in the middle rounds to be better prepared for their departures. I like Davis as well.

My advice to you is go and check the box score. Check what Pollard averaged for each rush and each reception last night. It was actually slightly above 7.5 yards. NO EMBELLISHMENT! Sounds more like agenda or reading comprehension issues on your end.

I don’t view this dynamic as a “one vs the other” scenario. I think we need to keep this RB duo in tact as long as both players are playing well (which they are).
Elliott is no longer the flavor of the week or the shiny new toy amongst the pro football talking heads. But he’s still important to our offense, IMO.

This is exactly what seems likely to happen. Zeke is taking a pay cut next year no matter if its with us or with another team. Getting the salary he is scheduled to make isn't a likely option.
He seems like a guy who loves being a cowboy. I'm sure he knows the pay cut is coming and he may as well let it come here than in another city.
