Elliott shouldn't have played

He has sub par games more than people think. I think it was just one of those games. We’ll see how he does against the Jags.

Heaven forbid a professional athlete is asked to do his job because he's not a hundred percent. It's not like any of us have ever gone to work feeling a bit under the weather.

He clearly was nowhere near as explosive as normal. Wasn't powering through contact or finishing runs with any kind of authority,
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say perhaps he’s not the god everyone acts like he is. He’s good, but that’s it.

They are short on RBs having kept 4 TEs who can't play and 6 untalented WRs. I have no idea how hurt Elliott is or was. I don't think the Cowboys would risk losing him for the year if he was hurt badly. But I do agree, he was not the same Zeke we are used to seeing run away from LBs and breaking tackles.
Yeah. Another great decision by the organization.

We are a run first team. So let's keep 2 RBs and just keep a bunch of below average receivers.

Zeke gets banged up against Detroit but why bother to look around for some insurance in case it carries over.

Houston did what all of our opponents should do - sell out on the run and dare us to beat them with the pass.

Just wait until you see what Jacksonville does this week.

It's a little different for us to perform our jobs under the weather. If a running back has a hurt knee it's going to definitely affect his performance. But he stepped up and played through it. The coaches should have realized how ineffective he was due to the injury and played rod Smith more. It was clear the explosiveness was not there and he really gave us nothing rod Smith couldn't have.

But Garrett is an idiot and doesn't have the ability to adjust on the fly.

I was thinking that it was that people forgot what it looked like when a team tackles.

Last week he was better than Emmitt. Now he’s a little sore so we should feel bad for him. Wonder if people felt bad for Emmitt for playing with a separated shoulder.

You give the Houston D no credit for stopping him? They are a very good D.

You go back and watch that game, and you'll see a total lack of any respect for Dak. Houston was often lining up an OLB on the edges essentially giving them a 5 man front and the S was often within 7 yards of the LOS. They ran run blitzes as well. The Austin interception was on first and ten (and credit to Dallas, they had the right play call), the Texans ran a run blitz leaving the middle of the field wide open. Dak just missed the pass.

Texans were willing to take risks like that all night just to make sure Elliott and the Cowboys run game never got going.

Same as last year. Between the OC, the QB, and the WRs, we're not making teams pay for crowding the box.

Worse, we're not even *trying* to beat them. It's really simple. Football 101. We need to throw to the wideouts to make defenses stop crowding the box. We actually have plenty of speed to do it this year, but we're not taking the targets.

Play action, everyone block, and Dak and the wideouts play the simplest of 3 man games. Dak and two of our WRs versus a safety and two corners for them. With the entire field to work with.

We could make our run game harder to stop by giving the ball to players not named Zeke. We have them. Austin. Dak. Maybe Olawale. The extra threat, particular Dak doing a read option, occupies a defender to defend, or Dak gets a free run.

I put most of this on Linehan. Whatever faults our players have, the first thing you've got to do is call plays that have a chance of beating the defenses we see. Linehan doesn't do that.

Maybe he was nicked up, but I believe this is more about Houston's D. I felt that Houston's D was very quick and assertive, and when you have an offense like ours (bad) its easy to bottle Zeke up with zone blitzes and 8+ in the box.

Like i previously mentioned, games like this will happen for Zeke as long as our passing game remains in shambles. Honestly to Zeke's credit. It I am surprised that Zeke hasn't had more statistical games like last Sunday with teams stacking the box and run-blitzing constantly. I'm amazed he is still averaging 5+yards an attempt despite defenses selling out to stop him.

Look at Todd Gurley, and look at his 2016 season. The rams offense was putrid and he was their only weapon at that time. RESULT - Gurley only rushed for 885 yards, and averaged only 3.2 yards an attempt. And he played all 16 games. People thought it was him, and of course it wasn't. The Rams changed coaches, got a few more pieces and now they are calling him one of the 3 best RBs in the league.

Absolutely.

He looks hurt....and i fear he is going to breakdown if we keep grinding him all banged up.
