I have been as big of a fan of Elliott as anyone, but it seems as though he is nothing but a big, short yardage plodding back at this point. He doesn’t seem to have the burst anymore to take it to the house on a long run. This fact seems to enable defenders to really stack the box on Elliott.

Anyone else see it this way, or does Moore limit Zeke’s upside by stubbornly running him between the tackles like Garrett? Or is this just game planning to wear defenses down?

Not looking very efficient from my point of view regardless of the reason. I could see Pollard being saved until the post season and then getting the lions share of the touches in the playoffs.

Yup. Good downhill power back at this point but has completely lost the ability to hit the home run.

Splitting carries with Pollard has been pretty effective so would continue down that path.

I see it is crap on the Cowboys after a loss Monday. Leave no player or coach left unsullied.

I like Zeke too.
I think Pollard offers more, but all I hear is that Zeke has to be in because of his blocking in the passing game.

Uhm.... Zeke played great last night. If Cooper doesnt throw 3 picks, we would have won and youd be writing how powerful Zeke looks.

I saw more explosiveness from Zeke yesterday than I remember in a while. I think the less is more approach is the right one to take with Zeke. Get him his 15 carries a game and Pollard the rest of the snaps. They are an excellent combo. Keep Zeke fresh and healthy and he is still an extremely productive back.

I think that the true answer lies somewhere in between.

Do I think Elliott is a bit slower than he was earlier in his career? Sure. That undeniable just watching him.

Do I ALSO think that an unimaginative run game from Kellen Moore hurts him? Absolutely.

But I saw a guy giving his all last night, often with terrible blocking in front of him. And to his credit, he kept at it and eventually started to have success against the Eagles. His running played a significant role in our comeback.

And Pollard will never be the pass blocker and blitz pickup guy that Elliott is.

The real issue comes down to overpaying any running back.

Sometimes definitely that's the case. I'm not knocking him, just has a funky gait.

I wonder how much of it is related to ball protection also. Usually when they cover up with both arms they aren't upright much longer. Zeke does a lot of that too.

Our best case is him bursting through and picking up 20-30 yards.

It's whatever, he's a good, not game breaking RB, who is going to be getting a pay cut one way or another.

lol. Probably bad timing to complain about Zeke after he just rushed for 6.2 yards per an attempt and was the best thing we had going offensively last night. If he is going to plod for 6.2 yards per carry then I would let him plod all night long.
