Ellis is getting a raw deal and it's pathetic

The Answer is disgusted over the way this entire situation is being handled, and also disappointed by a majority of the fans opinions on the matter. Why are so many people assuming the role of the ravenous wolf and suddenly turning on one of the best players we've had this last decade? Ellis has every right to stand up for himself and voice his discontent given the lousy circumstances involved. The Answer is glad that he skipped the voluntary practices yesterday and hopes he continues to do whatever is necessary to send a message that this is not acceptable.

It's time to trade or release Greg if we aren't willing to make him a part of this team in the capacity he deserves. It's not about the money, he just wants a commitment from the front office and coaching staff that he has a role with this team and can finish his career here and not go out like a chump. If the front office refuses to comply than The Answer is all for trading Ellis for a starting offensive lineman since that's really the only area we still need help with. Ellis is 31 and it's only fair he has a chance to go play for a team that he can be start on if he truly don't 'fit into our defensive scheme'. He shouldn't have to play second fiddle to players that have only been with this team a year or two, regardless of their potential.

Ellis might not be a superstar, but he is a consistent and well above average in his pass rushing skills. In years past he was the focal point of double teams and attention from opposing offensive lines because he was that good and there was nobody else available on the opposite side to create pressure. He has averaged 8 sacks the last 4 years and been the player that bums like Ekuban or Wiley could only dream of. In fact he likely would have had well over 10+ sacks last season had his time not been reduced in favor of younger players. It's time for the front office to quit politicking and either give Greg what he rightfuly deserves or move on....

I agree. But behind closed doors not in the media. Show some class.

He deserves? He is just another employee. What makes him so special that he suddenly "deserves" something?

I wouldn't say he is getting a raw deal at all. As an aging player, it's obvious BP is doing what he can to make sure Ellis is on the field as much as possible. Due to the depth we now enjoy at the position Ellis plays I would saw BP is doing Ellis a favor.

Why can't he compete for playing time like a man instead of crying when the young buck takes away your playing time.

No, The Answer is voicing his discontent over the situation.

Ellis has been nothing short of a consummate professional during his tenure in Dallas. He's the antithesis of a prima donna and has never had any off field issues or created tension or strife in the lockerroom.

At 31, he is still in his prime and has enough left in the tank to be a productive player in a STARTING role. He has already said it's not about that with the cowboys anyway, he just wants assurances that he's not going to be riding the pine all season and have a definitive role.

Greg Ellis paid millions of dollars to play football for the Dallas Cowboys.

He should shutup and play football.

Who feels sorry for him? I mean, seriously. Are you nuts? This guy is going to make $2.5 Million this year to play a game. It's not like he's being paid an hourly wage or some crap.

You should all be disgusted with this guy.

He deserves a role on this football team for being a standup guy and loyal to this organization, especially during some very bad seasons when we flat out sucked. Like The Answer just said in another response....it's not about starting or more money, he wants assurances that he's not going to be sitting on the bench 90% of the season behind younger players.

Why should we hate this 'employee' as you put it for merely wanting to do his job and play some football???

Voice what you want to---Ellis has been average ---he signed a contract --
this is his second year of crying --shut up and play or sit on the bench--but
don't expect me to feel like anyone that is making millions playing a game is
getting a bad deal--Maybe the answer is loosing his objectivity---:bang2:

I agree with the Question?

Call around the NFL teams, see who needs this or that....and ship him outta here for, maybe an Oline man?

Trade him, or whatever...but he needs to go...that's to bad!

However! Could this be a ploy? (a media ploy)?.....

In the famous words of Erik Williams to a rookie Michael Strahan: "Take your ***-whoopin like a man".

Put up or shut up. He's not worth a nickel more than he's being paid, regardless of what defensive scheme he's playing in.The Cowboys HAVE shown a commitment to Ellis by adopting schemes to get him on the field to make an impact in more game situations (something they didn't do last year) . THAT'S A COMMITMENT!

I think the Answer doesn't understand the question. Nor does Ellis.

He already got that. Now he is just being a winey little .............

And going public is just opening up the door to the criticism he is now getting.

I think Parcells defined Greg's role pretty clearly in the news conference last week and said he'll get more snaps this season, If I'm not mistaken.

In the early 1990s, Wannstedt and Butch rotated the defense linemen to keep them fresh. It's a good strategy IMO.

I've met Greg and probably like the guy as much as anyone. Having said that, this is getting old. He needs to make the most of the situation and he'll be rewarded one way or another.

Life ain't fair. Roles change. It happens to most of us. Life could be worse.

How do you expect him to be anything more than 'average' when he doesn't get enough snaps during a game?

Pass rushing defensive ends that can actually get sacks aren't a dime a dozen nowadays. With that said it's time to either appease and respect Ellis or trade him to a team where he can contribute something and be appreciated!

Kapolani thinks Ellis should shut up and play when and how they tell him to.

Kapolani thinks that anyone who is part of a team should speak of team matters behind closed doors and not through the media.

Kapolani thinks that speaking in third person is about as funny as a hot poker shoved up his arse.

He's had eight years on this team, and never once has he been much more than average.

Although I do agree, trade him. He's no longer worth the investment. It's time for players on this team to take/earn their jobs/money. Ellis has no interest in either one. Jerry is loyal to a fault. This is a great start to ending that trend.
