there is big difference in 4-3 vs. 4-2-5 in a 3-4 defense. the gap responsibilities and where you line up is totally different. so Ellis was on the line in a 4-2-5, it could be any LB playing that position. doesn't mean they are in a 4-3 set up with him lining up on the outside shoulder of the tackle and inside shoulder of the TE with one hand down and the proper foot forward. the difference is in the subtle things that make the difference between the 3-4 and 4-3 and various formations of each scheme.

We dont play the 4-3 at all you are exactly right. Good to see someone else can understand the game. Alot of times when it looks like a 4-3 it is a 3-4 over or under. Just walking ware/ellis or both up to the line and having them put their hand down.

This is something that I think people are completely confused about. We play pretty vanilla fronts, 3-4 2 man under most of the time, occasionally an over or under or the 4-2-5 nickel.

I did read cant remember where, that we are going to have some changes this year and put guys on the line alot and get after it because of our corners abilities to play man.

I said that because I understand what he meant. I dont believe he is saying there is a 3-4 nickel. I think his point was that our technique and style is not changing when we play the 34 man over/under that appears to be a 43 but is not.

If he meant that there is a 34 nickel then I misunderstood him and he is wrong.
