I'd take a flyer on him, sure. He's two season removed from 17 sacks. If we're set on rotations, he wouldn't be a bad signing, as long as the price is right. 2 yrs/8 mil, 3.5 guar? He has payed the majority of his career as an OLB, tho. Something to consider.

He was effective as a DE when he played for Denver.

2/3 of his 99 career sacks were in denver when he played mostly DE out of the 4-3

He did both in Den, but you are right, J. When he was slotted as an end in the 4-3 (DEN used multiple formations at that time), he was successful.

yes but if he has fully recovered from his foot injury he is worth a look. he is the most proven guy out there. He has had double digit sacks multiple times 17 sacks twice, averages 9+ per season. he is what used to be called a bridge player, use him in conjunction with a drafted kid due to 1st year for most DEs being the hardest for rookies.

Too much for us. The market is crazy. The SB champs have 61 million to spend for crying out loud. I would love to have him and other older vets, as I believe in a mix. But McClay/Stephen don't believe in that philosophy. They want cheap, unknown, but upside signings. They also like high upside guys with flaws. Drug problems, injuries, etc etc.

Too old and not what the Cowboys really need. Younger...tougher...forget about old half used up players. The Club needs fresh blood...not a blood transfusion.
