lol. This is news!! The only person on the planet that doesn know Garrett is below average is ole Jerry Jones.
I think any "holding back" was by Dak himself. He was understandably tentative in his pro debut. I believe some deep passes were called but he took the safer options. The good thing is he appears to be able to go through his progressions and make decisions, even if we don't like the decisions.
Emmitt knows football. Not a great commentator but he knows football. Listen to what he say regarding football....
Has he seen Dak in practice? Has he watched extensive film on him? Has he worked with him day in and day out?Yeah he couldn't possibly know more than anyone that posts on the site
I love Emmitt as a player, but there is a reason why no one pays him for his opinion on football.
Even his former teammates have stopped defending Garrett, stop with the 'take what they give us' nonsense and 'take what you want to take'. Know your team and your opponent and maximize your advantages and minimize your weaknesses. Coach!
But while I agree with Emmitt in general, I didn't see them 'holding back' Prescott in this first game.
Emmitt makes a good point about Zeke not being lined up in a neutral position enough. He didn't like how Zeke was being used and he would know.
As far as Dak.. We threw the ball 45 times.
I have a problem with the route combinations.. Running Dez off to constantly clear out space for Witten or Beasley.
I would like to see more play designs that get guys OPEN down field and I would also just like to see a lot more simple passes that are basically a long handoff to Dez.
I want Dez in catch and run situations.. Drags, Slants, Quick passes, Bubble Screens, pick routes, all that good stuff.
LOL.........Emmitt Smith was 100% spot on. Trust me, he knows way more about football then you ever will.

I'm far from a Garrett apologist, but Dak and the game plan are two drops away from winning big in this game. I have a hard time taking anyone seriously when they keep saying that he was handcuffed in this game. He threw it 45 times.
I don't think Dak has developed enough to throw contested balls to Dez when he's not open. His ball placement isn't quite there yet.
Emmitt is Dallas Cowboy royalty. He is an absolute warrior & champion. For that alone every Dallas Cowboy fan should at least respect his opinion.
If you Google my post history here, you'll find I am not a Garrett apologist, by any stretch of the imagination. Would you like to engage in a conversation or hurl insults? The 4th round rookie threw the ball 45 times. Not sure how you could release him anymore.Garrett has pretty much been getting lambasted by just about everybody. Accept by you and a few other apologists on here.

If anything, they need more short passes. Put Dez in slants and drags, but apparently, he doesn't run these routes well.
I mean seriously. The guy knows football for sure.
Turning Dak loose here and there is right thing to do.
Control him 75-80% of the time..... the other 20-25.... let Dak be Dak!
"And Dak's Dak.... and there ain't nothing you can do about it"

He's essentially just reiterating what most on this board and some in the media have been saying regarding our Offense. The Coaching sucks. He's not wrong.
All Pro HOF running back chimes in yet the ^ know better lmao ahhhh the internet at its finest.
What was said was spot on. And none of it was rocket science either. All obvious stuff. Almost word for word but in nicer way as to what has generally been said on here since the game. And fact that it was said by a HOF Cowboys faithful should open the eyes of some people.
This alone should tell you not to take him seriously. You guys want to accept the expert analysis of someone who didn't even watch the game?I didn't see the second half because I had to go do something else.
No, I don't think you're really making it too simple. But what I will say is this: we missed a couple opportunities. I mean that pass that Cole Beasley dropped in the red zone that should have been a touchdown is one big play. That's the difference between scoring three points and scoring seven. he pass to Dez Bryant over in the corner where they called it a non-catch into the end zone: That's the difference between three points and seven points. That's the difference between winning and losing.
They were trying to keep from turning the ball over, but they are going to have to open it up more against the Skins.
Look how Jerry evaluated players . Not shocking he struggles with coaches as well. He's fired every Coach whose won a Super Bowl for us.lol. This is news!! The only person on the planet that doesn know Garrett is below average is ole Jerry Jones.
Emmitt missed the 2nd half. Wow .Emmitt Smith: Cowboys need to turn Dak Prescott loose; 'Quit trying to control everything yourself'

Did you guys actually read the article?
Here's what Emmitt said.
